Luis Garcia is topping out at 93, likely sitting 91-92. He was sitting 93-94 when he was healthy. Not great
Maybe he lost a little velocity with that weird new delivery? What’s his spin rate now compared to before?
Not sure how to interpet this. Odd. Im not optimistic that he is close to ready. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/luis-garcia-makes-fifth-rehab-start-for-astros.html
I don’t really know the ins and outs of baseball. Are there any other options than waiting for our 4 injured starters (Arrighetti, Javied, Garcia, Walter) to return and hope that one of them works out?
Nope? Yep? We're waiting on pitchers (some should be ready soon), and waiting on hitters (nobody knows when)
Rooney, 28, was drafted in the 3rd round out of Hofstra by the Dodgers in 2018. He had been a starter before switching to the bullpen in 2023. If/when Rooney appears in a game, he will be making his MLB debut. Rooney became a minor league free agent last offseason and signed with the Marlins, and he's spent this season in AAA, where he's 2-1 with 4 saves and a 2.45 ERA in 38 appearances (33 IP). He has allowed 9 runs on 19 hits (2 HR), walked 23 (1 intentionally), and struck out 45.
