I see a not impossible option here… Maybe the Lakers are not good this year, and Luka gets tired. The Lakers can’t offer Luka any more salary that any other team due to having been traded (no super max) and actually he would get paid more after taxes with us (no State Income Tax in Texas). If we offer the Lakers a SnT for matching salary (for example, FVV, DFS and Adams work if I’m not wrong), and offer them draft compensation (one or both of the Suns picks), the Lakers would prefer accepting than losing him if he goes to a team with cap space. This is a true superteam: Luka-Amen-Jabari-Durant-Sengun Bench: Sheppard-Okogie-Eason-Capela We can fill the roster with free agents willing to win a ring. Any thoughts?
The good thing is that next offseason we wouldn’t be giving the farm in a SnT, and it is still to be seen how Luka will play in his new shape, being in the Men’s Health magazine https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a65488151/luka-doncic-body-transformation/
I'm sure it's a moot point because it's highly unlikely he decides to leave the Lakers or that they would ever trade him barring a demand from his camp. But on the off chance, yes of course you'd give up basically anything for him. The only line I'd draw personally if I were Stone is that I wouldn't give up Amen plus very much more. Maybe if it's almost straight-up (just whatever is the least package that matches salary) I'd consider giving up Amen. I'd give up a massive package of a lot of other assets not including Amen though.
Hes been a defensive liability his whole career. Is defense something only European players get a pass on? Luka, Sengun, Dirk etc....
Going to Houston would be a huge FU to Dallas. That might be enticing. Crazier things have happened last year.
