You don't get records of all of your debit/credit card purchases? We'd started moving on from checks when I was still a child here in the UK (i'm 41 years old now) and I've never actually owned a checkbook (though we call it cheque here lol)
Yeah it just surprised me I guess, it's more my parent's generation and the one between them and myself that used them here in the UK. I'm considered "old" at my workplace because I remember when we had to sign for debit and credit cards before chip & pin and then contactless paying. If my subordinates saw me with a checkbook they'd probably consider me older than their granparents haha
I haven't had a checkbook in at least a decade. Just go to the bank and get a couple of sheets printed off. Six checks last me for a year or more.

They have mandatory courses in school for D1 Athletes like Marcus, a good agent will also provide guidance on this, the NBA has RTP and the NBAPA that have a mandatory rookie orientation that focuses on financial literacy courses. An NBA player is surrounded by guys who have made hundreds of millions in the locker room on a daily basis, many will have very good contacts from wall street and silicon valley, the Vets definitely provide guidance on this as well. They are taught plenty, and history has taught us this as well with countless athletes going broke. Even their sponsors will guide them (Reebok saved Allen Iverson from being broke). An NBA player is provided all of the resources to prevent issues like this, especially with someone who has had $107M on career earnings from just NBA contracts.

I actually took home economics because I couldn’t leave school early my junior year and had to fill out my schedule and girls were there. we never once mentioned money, crazy how much they keep from us
yeh..... see i dont see it as any kinda conspiracy.... just the general dumbing down of stuff. i mean i could see schools phasing out the economics parts to try to improve grades, so it looks like they are doing a good job... lol I tell ya, i did 9th and 10th in Houston and 11th and 12th in Cali... OMG - night and day! In Houston, i was doing 10-page term papers with footnotes and bibliography on a prescribed topic (I recall 'Cry the Beloved Country' about Apartheid)... in Cali it was read a book, any book and write a 2 page report about it. (i remember doing 'Hammer of the Gods - The Led Zeppelin story' - lol) In Houston, I did Algebra II and Geometry those 2 years... I got to Cali and it was "well u already completed all your math requirements - but u still need 2 years of PE" - So I took no further math and was a 6'3 senior playing basketball against freshmen in gym... lol i graduated in 88 to put it in a timeline. I dont want to go political on this... but imo, it's like the 'everybody gets a trophy' mindset. instead of making things hard so people actually learn and risk some failing - we're just going to make it easy enough so anybody who tries is going to pass... like i said, i dont think its a conspiracy... its just lazy and feel-good politics and policies imo. thats my rant... lol
