Would a team that has endless injuries really trade for Lowe, who has had injuries every year of his career and is currently on the IL for a second time this month? He makes Correa and Yordan look like iron men.
I agree - and I do not think the Astros will do that, but I also think someone will likely overpay for Suarez.
Hard to imagine he got too lucky on the 4 HR's in those 8 games though Having said that, if the Cubs think he isn't actually good, Dana should be all over that
He's a big time prospect, he's just had an underwhelming start. I can see them bringing in another 3B this season, even though Shaw is obviously the future. This is an all in season for the Cubbies before they drop back to mediocrity.
Twins get: Pecko, Juan Bello Astros get: W Castro Rockies get: Whitcomb, Fleury Astros get: T Freeman Nationals get: Janek, Nezuh, Alex Santos, Chas Astros get: Soroka, Finnegan We add two guys who have position flexibility that could greatly help us now, a SP with upside and a RH bullpen arm, and with none of them making significant money it could be worked out with some money moving from those teams to where we don't go over the tax These might not be the names, but this is the type of moves I'm expecing. And if we do something like this AND get Yordan, Pena, Jake, Javier, Garcia, Arrighetti back and they perform anywhere near their ability, we would be as good as anyone
Possible, but probably not possible without losing Matthews, Ullola and probably a 3rd guy like Sullivan. Would be a big price to pay with Suarez a rental. I think the ONLY way Dana would consider that is if he felt really good about Yordan coming back and being good this year. Or, of course, if Crane told him to
They would be packaged with Framber (one or maybe the other) Bunch of clowns on this Astros forum. Because he's injury plagued this season doesn't mean a team missing the playoffs wouldn't want an ace pitcher plus someone serviceable at 2nd that is an upgrade to what they have. Im hoping the Astros find a top SS prospect that the Astros feel can rake next season. Someone just told me I haven't seen enough of these players to judge. I'm saying the winning before the A's series might trick them into thinking they are good. As I've mentioned the Yankees and Astros were rated as two of the worst farm systems before the season. Maybe a dumb team can be tricked. It just takes one dumb GM. Like one that took Jose Abreu. Yes I criticized Abreu and Montero heavily last season or two
Freeman very interesting target, excellent against RHP this season with more bb than k. But I’m still not sure a short track record player like that is a better bet than Matthews and/or Melton.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/07/rays-trade-danny-jansen-brewers.html If there was any question about the Rays selling, they just traded their starting C. Yainer Diaz and Miguel Ullola for Brandon Lowe and Drew Rasmussen, who says no?
Twins get Ryan Gusto, A.J.Blubaugh, and Shay Whitcomb Astros get Carlos Correa and $14M (AAV approx $27M) Nationals get: Brice Matthews, Miguel Ullola, Alex Santos, and Kenni Gomez. Astros get MacKenzie Gore.
Excellent. Exciting trades that are realistic for both sides. If the stros are gonna go that hard I’d want them to go get another bat in addition to Correa. But gimme this playoff roster and I’m ready to roll: SS Pena LF Altuve DH Alvarez 3B Correa 1B Walker C Caratini RF Smith CF Trammell 2B Matthews Bench: Dubon, Melton, Diaz, Hummel SP: Valdez, Brown, Gore, Arrighetti RP: Hader, Abreu, Javier, King, Sousa, Okert, McCullers, Garcia, Ort
We are after Castro. Wait .. SnakeD. We trade Brice M and he is also listed as our 2b batting 9th? What am I missing?
Not necessarily, I would try Lowe at 3B and Altuve at 2B. Hopefully Parades makes it back and they put Altuve in LF. A pretty good defensive infield and a better than avg defense is they put Melton in CF. The only weak spot is Altuve in LF.
