I'm now monitoring these Cal Raleigh home runs. I'll give it a couple more weeks. A little after the break. If the current trend continues, there's no "regression to the mean," I'm gonna have to say it...

    This is great.

    https://www.mlb.com/news/john-oliver-helps-moon-mammoths-make-debut

“[Minor League Baseball] is one of the great things that America has,” the England-born Oliver said. “If you’re lucky enough to have a Minor League team anywhere near you, support it.”
    ....
“It felt like a nice fit with our show,” Oliver said. “Minor League Baseball is willing to try anything. That was proven by the fact that over half the league was willing to, sight-unseen, rebrand and put their trust in the hands of a group of people who are untrustworthy. That’s a bad decision. And it is that kind of bad decision-making that I love about Minor League Baseball.”

Rich Hill is back in the majors, a man that played in the same game as Jeff Bagwell.

So that little piece of my childhood survives just a little bit longer

Man, I feel so bad for JV, I hate to see him go out like this. He is a savvy pitcher who I thought would turn into a Zach Greinke, lose some speed but hit the corners...........not sure if he is hurt or is just washed, but man, I hate to see this, he became one of my all-time favorites with the Astros

This is why I sometimes wish for a dislike button. I previously discussed this topic without involving politics. You can agree or disagree with this idea without the inflammatory political hate included here.

It's disingenuous to call it political hate at the same time as you decry the politics.

I like the old names and take every opportunity to make fun of changing them when no harm or disrespect is being shown.

I wonder how many All-Stars (HOF?) both started and ended their careers between 2005 and 2025? Rich Hill's ages 25 to 45

    Baseball and a wank. #winning.
Baseball needs much more of this.

Anybody penciling in any 2027 dates or salary considerations should plan on some backup options.

The players already had their issues with Manfred. This could be much worse than 94.

    (Edit: 2027)

The CBA runs thru 2026 so the season at risk is 2027.

Apologies... yes, I'll edit that year.

You would hope there's some degree of negotiation or testing of the waters well before that... and if this is it, there will be no common ground on many of the issues.

Good, shut it down, a salary cap will be better for the game in the long run.
