He said it wasn't a TJ issue and if that's truly the case then the swelling should subside in a couple of weeks.
The initial MRI didn't show any structural damage. The pain/inflammation showed up over his last couple of starts. Walter mentioned "overuse" as a possible factor (since he's a year off from surgery) Nobody knows when his arm will bounce back.
Does anyone have a breakdown of the expected returns from injury? There’s like 150 guys on the IL and I can’t keep track.

-We should be thinking 2026(if no lockout) and beyond. -There is no amount of trades to fix this team. Pitching is no longer at level that we could be contender without any bats. We said no bats and then lost few more. The season is done. -There is no reason to burn every possible contributor for future for couple of rentals. We don't need 2 bats, we need 5 so don't be stupid. Prob. not a problem when other teams will outbid us for these bats. -Try to resign Framber, get rid of Chas and Hummell for good. Im ready to see that same s**t from any rookie prospect who's evolving. Hummel did't ever have it so why we are beating the dead horse. Chas took his natural skill as far as he could and respect what he was able to do. If you look at his eyes (going on few years) and body you know the time is not used at gym or watching video. If those bloodshot eyes belonged to your friend you would drive him to nearest AA meeting. -No game which have nuff meaning/somewhat tightly contested to use King & Abreu can't have Neris in there too. I want public infomercial which tells us who made last decision of signing Neris and I want Joe to come out and take the resp.of deciding to use him or put it on Dana's lap if the decision comes from there. Bring up any s*itty prospect or sign any waived guy from other team and we get better performance. -The team fought good but too much injuries and we keep making horrible lineup and BP decisions. This team is cooked. Try to wiggle in WC spot and new try next year when some money comes off the books. Maybe Yordan can play, maybe Walker reboots, maybe Altuve can have hot start, maybe Pena is elite again, maybe Framber is resigned or we have all other SP's healthy and doing great. Maybe Diaz is either finally challenged about terrible AB's and improves or he's traded when still has value. Maybe Cam continues to shine and evolve. -2025 is done.
He's not. He's "really, really close." Peña took about a half-dozen at-bats against live pitching at Houston’s minor-league facility in West Palm Beach, Fla., manager Joe Espada said. The at-bats were not in a game setting — no defenders on the field — but similar to the live at-bats that hitters and pitchers use to build up in spring training. Espada said Peña’s session “went really well” and another live BP is scheduled for Sunday. “He’s taking his ground balls, doing his base running — he’s really, really close,” Espada said. “Can’t wait to have him back.” ..... The Astros have not offered a firm timetable for when Peña could return. Espada did not answer directly Saturday when asked if Peña will require a minor-league rehab assignment. Regaining Peña would be a boost for Houston’s injury-thinned lineup. The Astros are without five players from their Opening Day lineup — Peña, Isaac Paredes, Yordan Alvarez, Jake Meyers and Brendan Rodgers. Peña appears the closest to a return. ..... Alvarez is still limited to hitting off a tee and soft toss. Meyers has not resumed running in his recovery from a calf injury. Paredes is shut down with a hamstring injury. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/jeremy-pena-rib-20787868.php
This is a defeatist attitude. Trade for a bat or 2 and get Pena/Alvarez/eventually Parades back and I'll take my chances. Plus they will be getting Arrghetti/Javier and Garcia back soon. This season is far from over. But you can only win with an AAA lineup for so long.
Cold take: the Astros should option Cam Smith to secure an additional year of service time. He’s slumping, and he’s not going to win ROY to get them a draft pick.
Arrighetti as well if he’s like 1 or 2 days short of us getting in another year which is how I calculated it last year, but haven’t seen anything on it.
