Well let’s see if my Nostradamus effect comes true. Being a fan 30+ years makes things easier to predict to be fair.
Complaining about Caratini and Dubon's future salaries strikes me as a bit weird. Until there's a replacement for them, which I just don't see quite yet.
Let's see if this series goes from terrible to notorious record-setting futility. 4-game sweeps at home are the lowest of the low. 4-HR game. Wretched run-diff. Make it stop
I agree…. The point was if you’re retaining/paying guys like that, and you have a top 10 payroll, you would probably be spending dollars on prime players elsewhere. They’re paying elsewhere for negative WAR and dead money. They’re almost going to be in danger of not being able to afford Dubon (let alone signing deserved guys like Valdez, Brown, Pena to extensions). As relatively smart as Crane has been in certain areas (pitching development)… they could have been that much smarter on the bigger contract side. Would rather pay 1-2 homegrown guys who were/are all-stars vs. a conglomeration of past prime/hometown ‘discount’/role-player types. Yordan/LMJ were also discounted due to their injury history. Market rate for prime players has really only been afforded to JV/Altuve/Hader (with the latter also being considered frivolous).
Seattle will gain ground, which I guess doesn't really matter, because if Houston keeps playing like they have in the last three games their changes of contending will disappear. Which is crazy, because before this series they were leading the AL. It didn't take long for them to collapse into a deep funk.
I had a bad feeling about this series... But not this bad. I thought maybe a split... Lol But being out scored 25-6 in 3 games... And about to be swept in a 4 game series. Unreal.
The problem for me is given the devastating number of injuries this team has been dealt, the June winning streaks made no sense, but this…..this makes sense. Hope I’m wrong.
Of course! Why I asked was that that pic reminded me of my own granddad in Korea. Woof...they call it the "Forgotten War" for a reason, nobody that was there wants to remember it.
He'll only get better as he learns the position, the position that he's never played before until this year. Mondesi is not a bad comp at all, defensively "his 11th assist of the season"
