JD Davison (2024-2025 G-League MVP) Signs With Houston Rockets

    JD Davison signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Houston Rockets for the 2025-26 season. This type of contract allows him to play for both the NBA team and their G League affiliate (the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in this case).

    His salary for this season will likely be based on his time spent with the Rockets and the G League team, but as a two-way player, it won't be a guaranteed NBA salary.

    It is important to note that this is Davison's final season of eligibility for a two-way contract. He was previously waived by the Boston Celtics, who had picked up his non-guaranteed team option for the 2025-26 season worth $2.27 million. The Celtics waived him to move below the second tax apron.

    Nice dunk! But can he shoot? I hope he has some range in his shots and not just another high flying dunker.

    Yea, we used to have 3 now it’s just 1. I wouldn’t mind if he was a high flyer to be honest to inject some athleticism back into roster instead of it just being Amen.

    15 actual roster spots, only 14 are occupied.

    3 two way contracts at any one time. Kevon Harris, JD Davison & Isaiah Crawford occupy those spots currently.

    Two way contracts don't count against the cap.

    NBA teams can hold up to 20 players going into camp including the 2-way players & exhibit 10 contracts.

    It is a bit sad we went from "possibly the most athletic team in the NBA" to 1 high flying dunker.

    I still remember watching those Draft House videos with Davison, Jabari, and TyTy. It's like we just had to have them all at some point in their careers.

    Liked JD coming out of college and has gotten better. Tough trying to crack a loaded veteran Celtics team. This is the kind of signing I like with two-ways, young and up and coming players with promise. Didn’t like any of the others Stone signed but like his latest picks with JD and Crawford.

    Mathews is (was?) an exhibit 10 signing, meaning the team has the option to convert him up to a 2way, and have the rights to sign him to GLeague.

    Basically exhibit 10s are roster builders for a GLeague affiliate.
