I mean, maybe some players hold out for some amount of time to get a little more guaranteed money, I the post I quoted seemed to be worried he would sign at all. When was the last time a drafted player held out and didn't sign with the team that drafted him? Airontae is gonna sign.
Maybe his camp read where Nick tried to trade up to #38 for Tae and are trying to use that as leverage in the negotiations.
Plus his new teammate just got his whole contract guaranteed IIRC... maybe Ersery (or his agent rather) wants the same
A clause a few draftees have held out for this year is the ability to get guaranteed money clause in their contract, if a training camp injury occurs (or something to that effect). https://sports.yahoo.com/article/bengals-no-1-rookie-holding-210649956.html
They were holding out for how much of the 4th year would be guaranteed in the second round. It's not worth it to either the player or the team to miss Training Camp.
He needs to stay at his natural position which is LT. Fisher has looked awful so far in camp so I wonder if they'll move him to RT. Hes never played that
I am not sold on Blake just yet, he looked OK at times and other times he looked like a deer in the headlights........I am hoping he is improved as he looks to be a major cog in the line................I am so jaded on the OL, I hope to be proven wrong this year. I have faith in the new crew but I think it will take 6-7 games to see what we really have
Blake has looked AWFUL in training camp from reports. Ive been ringing the alarm bell all off-season about the oline but everyone was busy drinking the kool-aid. Now we going expect a rookie to start at a position he hasn't played in the NFL? This oline is going to cost us this season. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not sold on the talent at all.
Those alarm bells have been ringing loud and clear since early last season, so you sounding them all off-season is nothing out of the ordinary. I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet that just about everyone’s had a hand on those bells. Most fans wanted the Texans to sign multiple offensive linemen and draft top O-line prospects. That wasn’t exactly drinking the Kool-Aid. Now we’re in wait-and-see mode, hoping the new coaching, free agent signings, and draft class lead to an upgrade in performance.
Go look in the Oline thread and I've been attacked all off season for ringing the alarm bells....everyone in the fam base is drinking the kool-aid that a new scheme is suddenly going to make the oline good. Utterly delusional We need more talent
I just went back a few pages to around April 30, and I’m not seeing the delusional fanbase you're describing. There was one post mentioning "drinking the Nick Kool-Aid," but even that one questioned his job security if the OL underperforms again. Most of what I saw were realistic takes. People saying the OL will be tested early, one even said, “we might as well get used to it.” Others called it a “huge unknown” and the scheme “untested.” One post said CJ will either have more time or be running for his life again. Someone pointed out the OL staying fit as a good sign, but still had concerns because of Green. Another said they’re more hopeful than confident and want to see how it looks against both good and bad competition. My personal favorite: “zero reason to trust any O-line evaluation from this org.” Even replies to you were measured, like if they go from poor to average, that’s still a step forward, but no one’s pretending that’s good enough. I definitely didn’t see anyone saying we don’t need more talent, and of all the posts I looked at, everyone seems pretty aware of the concerns. Maybe I didn't go back far enough.
Well said. But I'm still not one to give up on Blake Fisher, though, he’s a huge question mark. Keep in mind, he’s going against the best pass rushing duo in the league. He isn’t going to look great.
kenyon green , blake fisher, and juice scruggs are all 1st/2nd rounders who are busts? I hope lots of people get fired for this bullshit
Problem is Green was Warthrop's guy Fisher/Scruggs were Strausser guys. Both of them have been fired and now Ersery/Andrews are Popovich guys and Popovich knows exactly the type of OL Caley's looking for to make his offense go. If it's true that Howard is in the best shape of his life, Trent Brown can make it back and I expect Robinson to be serviceable then this OL could be decent this year. Tomlinson I dont expect much from, but he's a smart guy who will be an improvement over Green. One thing I've been impressed by is it looks like Caley/Popovich are willing to play the best players and this doesn't bode well for Fisher/Scruggs. I expect them to move on from Scruggs and Fisher will probably make the roster but is hanging on by a thread. Caley/Popovich aren't messing around.
