Asserting with confidence that there was a lab leak may have been considered controversial at some point in the first year of the pandemic.

Believing that a lab leak was plausible, even likely, but with the caveat that we don't have enough evidence to believe it with high confidence was not controversial.

Note the article's conflation of "lab leak", which could mean any number of things, with what he actually was referring to which was the specific allegation that it was NIAID-funded EHA research that caused the COVID pandemic.

"The smear campaign soon boiled over into conspiracy theories,” the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) chief and ex-White House chief medical adviser claims. “One of the most appalling examples of this was the allegation, without a shred of evidence, that an NIAID grant to the EcoHealth Alliance (EHA) with a subgrant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China funded research that caused the COVID pandemic.

At a May 11 [2021] Senate HELP Committee hearing, Senator Rand Paul fed the conspiracy theory, which he amped up further at the subsequent HELP hearing on July 20,” he goes on. “I was shocked and incensed by this totally inappropriate accusation."

No, believing a lab leak is plausible or likely (with "low confidence") should not be construed as a validation of that allegation.

it's pretty clear at this juncture that "One of the most appalling examples" is in fact what happened. whether it leaked out of the lab, or was walked out by infected researchers, seems an odd viral hill for one to die on, as it were.

OK, maybe you can summarize the evidence or point me to an article that does so.

Not the distinction I was talking about.

Are we going to ignore that soldiers who refused the Jab and got fired are now being restored to their former jobs with apologies and full back pays? Thank you President Trump and a big fat middle finger to the liberal clowns in here.
You assholes cannot stop Trump. The only thing left for you demonic clowns is to cancel him, but you even failed at that in PA last year.

I heard something similar, we'll see because I have a private insurance plan thru my employer that has nothing to do with the federal government. To be honest I wasn't getting another COVID shot anyways but it's muh rite!!

It's weird, its like recommending against the Flu. Just a strange thing to do unless you are being political.

Violent and Property crime now at pre-Covid levels. Looking at CDC’s 2024 data on death rates its likely our life expectancy is also at pre-pandemic levels.

It took 5 years but the country is healing.

I hope education is the next category to rebound, but between the budget cuts and increasing societal changes around tech, I’m not as optimistic.

"This is a restoration of trust."

This is having an anti-vaxxer (nut job Kennedy) in charge. And when I say "anti-vaxxer," that pretty much covers all vaccines.

It is shocking that the idiots that struggled in High School biology or science, think opinion is the same as facts......it isn't....they are now supporting a Pedophile, and policies which hurt and sometimes kill children.

    WTF is wrong with people?

Low vaccination rates. Attributed to misinformation online. It’s not very complicated.

for years, the majority of that misinformation was largely propagated and spread by the Children's Heath Defense - which has been mostly controlled by RFKjr - so he is in fact, largely to blame for the rise in measles cases in Canada
