I think Reed will evolve but he hasn't earned bonafide minutes at this point. You can't dismiss any value guards right now.
I'd prefer anyone we sign now to be non-guaranteed until the start of the season. There will probably be some guys cut loose after training camp ends who are worth looking over. Given that we only have enough wiggle room for 1 minimum signing (then 1 more halfway through the season), it might be best to keep the powder dry as long as possible
Deanthony Melton would be the dream target for vet minimum. I think Delon Wright would fit really well next to Reed as well. Reggie Jackson or Cory Joseph could be decent vets. I'd even consider a flyer on Bones Hyland. Hell no to Seth Curry
I thought the spots went to the triumvirate of Holiday, Uncle and Tate Those targets above are definitely not 2 way contracts. I am no fan of those 3 but the Rox extended those 3 to not have to worry about fringe bench players.
D Melton worth a lot more than vet minimum. He’s been a 10 mill aav player the last 5 years and getting better. Morey messed that up for us
i have okagie for my 2k team. he's undersized for sf so i stick him at the 2. apparently breh is quick and athletic.
Reed was a -28 his last summer league game. Let that sink in…..we need some backup guard security other than just Holliday. Reed is awesome and will get to junior Curry status in a few years, but he’s not there yet and we are going for it all with 37 year old KD.
I highly doubt we're going to sign anybody else intended to be a rotation player at this point. We're going to give Reed Sheppard a chance to sink or swim. If any further changes to this roster happen, it will likely be at the trade deadline.
My realistic list. Guys who would have no problem being on the stay ready crew. 1A) Alec Burks, DeAnthony Melton Some developmental upside. 2) Wendell Moore Jr, Josh Christopher Veterans who bring a one needed skill. 4) Landry Shamett, Gary Bird. The only one who could play 8-12 min on back to backs consistently and reliably. Burks, (post injury form) Melton. If Melton is 100% he could provide alittle more than that
Tate > Okogie I would only be interested in getting Keon Johnson in a trade if the price is right. Otherwise, give Reed all of the extra minutes.
I think they're looking at Tate getting more minutes this year. He's not my cup of tea but it's the way its looking.
They may be useful but unless injuries happen they wont see play. FVV/Amen/KD/Jabari/Sengun/Adams/Capela/DFS/Tari/Reed This is already a 10 man lineup most coaches just tap out at this amount of players in a game. This si why Cam wanted out he was looking at 5-10 mins per gam if at all.
I don't think Adams and Capella will play at the same time, most likely they'll take turn backing up Alpy so you can see Adams/CC as 1 in the rotation. KD needs to reduce his minutes and saves his legs for the playoffs. Tari played a total of 79 games in the last TWO seasons, DFS played 63/68/66 in the past 3 years, it won't hurt to have some injury insurance. I wish Reed can be a solid backup PG this season, but so far he's still an unknown, especially in the playoffs. Don't you feel more comfortable to have at least one tested veteran guard to backup FVV for the playoffs? The Matthews signing is just an exhibit 10 contract, the Rockets has to add a veteran minimum contract to get to 14 to be in roster compliance anyway, so there must be a signing in the coming weeks.
