When you trade away your draft, there's not much reason for Summer League. I hate it personally, but it is what it is. There was basically no reason for them to even be there without Reed.
Trading Cam took us from great young talent to average. We all know he’ll average 20+ next year and we’ll be excited having to wait for our mid second rounder to play in next year’s SL. Reed is no star level player. He looks average at best. Poor defensively and can hit an open three at a high rate. He lacks the athleticism/ability to create his own shot, which will hurt him severely in the post season as it did Jalen.
Cam has more potential than Reed. No idea why they did this trade, perhaps Cam forced his way out and that was the best we could get for him
I say we drop all of our 2nd round picks on 19 year olds from here forward. If we're going to have to develop 19 year olds, we should at least only pay them $1 million a season.
Another ignorant and racist comment that attributes a person’a race to talent and ability. People said this of Black quarterbacks or Black hockey players.
Even Reed played bad, only played two games shot 36% FG, 31% 3 pt, 70% ft . This is prob the worst SL team in recent history. Rockets went 0-4 or some **** but I dont even think they had a single true rookie, the team was full of sl vets or older guys in their mid or late 20s. So Rox got older dudes with zero potential and still ended up going winless. Just horrible.
I tuned out after game one. Even Reed wasn’t enough to keep me tuned in. I saw enough after his first game. He was still trying to run the team instead of playing like the best player on the court. Summer league ain’t place to be trying to be Chris Paul. Even in game one, Reed didn’t look leaps and bounds above the competition like Tari, Jabari, Cam did their second time back in summer league. I wanted to see a Tari or Jabari performance from Reed. I knew Reed want going to layer but maybe two games top and that first game was underwhelming to me, imo. I came to the conclusion that summer league isn’t the type of game that benefits Reeds skillset or style of play. We’ll just have to wait til October to see his progress with the big boys
I think a part of Reed's issue was the opposing coaches looked at the roster and said "Only focus we got is Reed. Keep him under control and we've got this win." Now, that is not me saying Reed didn't make some bad decisions but he was feeling the pressure and they roughed him up just a bit the first game and he was arguing a lot with refs. Game 2? I didn't watch.
Funny, I know it is SL.....the only win came when Reed was glued to the bench. Those scrubs gelled without Shepp.
If you didnt watch Game 2 when he had a bad game I dont think you should weigh in on Reed. You have to look at both good and bad games to see where he is at. Not singling you out but the prob with posters here they ignore all the bad performances and slice up the data to only look at the good ones (that OKC game, when he started etc). Of course if you do that you will come to the conclusion Reed is gonna be a star someday lol duh. Thats why we have all these Steph Curry and Steve Nash comparisons on the board and people calling him the god shooter etc. If I look at only the times Jalen Green won WCF of the week I know he will be a future superstar. See how that works?
