Longer than I can endure watching McCullers start games for us. Needs to be in the mop up role or DFA’d at this point. Don’t have the luxury of a large lead anymore to keep throwing him out there.
Never heard Sparky and Ford sound so disappointed in a player . "He's become so predictable." (Lance) The way he said it I envisioned him tapping the desk like Silas. Everything that was going their way no longer is. Frustrating for sure.
Hard for a MASH unit to overcome injuries and s*** defense and 4 runs <3 IP from their starter. Astros had their chances but too many obstacles, some self inflicted. Avoid the sweep.
can someone tell me what's this franchise's obsession with hector neris? he's not the same 2022 neris. even the 2022 neris wasn't amazing either Bryan Woo pitching tomorrow. good luck hitting him.
This game would be completely different if McCullers wasn't automatically spotting the other team walks and HBPs
Throwing Hader multiple innings is beyond idiotic at this point. Risking injury and almost guaranteed loss. Stupid. McCullers’ leash needs to be short. One more start of <4 innings and he needs to be moved to scheduled relief work. They can’t keep running him out there and putting the entire pitching staff in a hole like this. 5 of his 11 appearances have been <4 innings, almost no pitcher in history gets to put up that many/frequency of duds and stay in the rotation. If Paredes is out for the season this team is ****ed. LF Altuve RF Smith C Diaz 1B Walker DH Singleton 3B Whitcomb CF Trammell 2B Matthews SS Dubon
Problem is Gusto and Gordon are not routinely giving us more innings either Team can’t wait till the deadline Brown needs to bring in a starter now And to be honest if Paredes is going to be out long term, which is likely, we probably can’t wait two weeks to add a bat either. We are putting too many everyday players out there who don’t belong in the majors
I will always have a soft spot for who they used to be but I'm running out of patience for McCullers and Neris
I thought Espada was going to be smart and when he pulled Lance yesterday try to get 3-4 innings out of Gusto, but instead he worried too much about lefty/righty and used him for one damn inning Until Brown makes a deal to bring some players in I would go 3B Smith LF Whitcomb DH Altuve C Diaz 1B Walker 2B Matthews RF Chas CF Trammell SS Dubon What I expect RF Smith LF Altuve C Caratini 1B Walker DH Diaz CF Trammell SS Short 3B Dubon 2B Matthews
Right now the Astros have 3 veteran hitters who “should” be good: Altuve, Walker, and Diaz They also have 3 rookies who warrant everyday play: Smith, Matthews, Whitcomb After that they have a bunch of bench/AAAA players who project to be below average to average hitters: Singleton, Caratini, Hummel, Dubon, Trammell, Short, Salazar, McCormick Pretty bleak. Singleton has shown he can get hit so I’d like to see him play, which means DH. McCormick or Trammell have to play CF. Dubon or Short have to play SS. I suspect Salazar will be optioned today but if not then Hummel seems like the odd man out. What’s funny is that a 7-8-9 of Singleton-McCormick-Dubon would not have raised an eyebrow last season.
Today is probably a much bigger game than most realist And not just because it's the difference in leaving town up 4 games instead of 2 If we don't see a dominant performance from Hunter, it's gonna be tough to find a path to hanging on. None of Jake, Pena, Yordan and now Paredes are close to returning. We need to win a huge percentage of the games started by Hunter and Framber
Luckily the Astros play 3 bad teams in the next 3 series. Diamondbacks (who are poised to sell) on the road, then A’s and Nats at home. So they very well could lose this game today then rip off 8 of their next 10 even with 1/3 of a lineup. But I do agree that it’s important for Hunter Brown to have a good start today.
Astros are done in 2025. Too many injuries. Their World Series was sweeping LA in LA. Speaking of done. Lance McCullers.
