Adult kickball is a sport, it's just a sport that's about as exciting as watching paint dry or grass grow.
Football isn't quite as inaccessible for the average Joe as basketball.... but it's still pretty damn inaccessible unless you are counting positions like kicker and punter.
You are correct. I should have said 'poster fixated on loser athletic players making excuses for him forever and keep doing the same thing when the next prototype arrives'. It is 'he plays with non-shooters, the system is not good for him, if only he played next to luka, he has a troubled past ...' it never finishes.
Depends on how yo define "average Joe." I am guessing you mean average physical build. That's true. You don't have to be exceptionally tall or big or strong. But you have to be a world class athlete in terms of muscle control and endurance. Top soccer talents are as rare as top talents of any other sport. Anyway, it's extremely difficult to make it to the top because there are so many "average Joes" in the world competing against you. In basketball, if you are above a certain height and are reasonably coordinated, you have a chance of make it to the best leagues. The reason soccer is so popular is because you don't need expensive equipment or facilities to play. Kids in impoverished parts of the world can play on dirt streets with a made-up ball. And the sport has very few complicated rules so that even young children can easily understand.
People underestimate Average Joes in Soccer. Soccer players are not just shorter versions, they are usually the thinnest with low body fat percentage athletes.......other than Formula One Drivers who should be very thin. The sport requirements demand it. Defenders should be between 6'2 - 6'6........The tallest soccer players are 6'7 so yeah. Average height should be around 6'0 still while the average height in the NBA is around 6'6. More midgets have left a mark like Messi who had a growth problem in his childhood. Footwork skills and ball handling with both feet = most relevant aspect......
Before I understood American football, I thought it was an extremely boring and silly game. A bunch of dudes whose faces I couldn't even see clearly hit each other in a pile. Then they got up, did nothing for like a minute and repeat the same silly hitting again. A lot of times I couldn't even see where the ball was.
I feel the same way about baseball. Don't get why it is interesting and at this age i don't have the time for it. Even worse with cricket.
Most academies offer programs that cost a ton right now so the impoverished part is a feel good story......structure is of paramount relevance. Moms and dads should drive around all the time. There is a Indoor version called Futsal or Beach Soccer that can be played with even less equipment.......for futsal you do not have to drive that far.
Actually the abundance of competitors push soccer players to excellency in terms of physical traits, because you can't beat the competition without being at the top. Not so much in the nba, because player pool is much more limited.
Guys like Harden and Zion would be eliminated very early on, if they cannot come into the season in top shape barring a spot as goalie. Even a goalie should be in shape.
(EDIT) TMI - My son played pro soccer....and still does. And,.... They are CRAZY in shape, and I am very proud - and love watching soccer because of him... DD
I can see this. Thing is I understand the rules. They basically mirror hockey rules. I find hockey to be an interesting sport. Adult kickball not so much..
