Yes, but his wRC+ which I believe adjusts for league/park is 122 for the season. He’s legitimately having a good season. But like any advanced college player he needs to be in AA before we can really start getting any idea of what kind big league player he will be.
I really like this guy and think he's going to be a part of a trade deadline deal. At least if I was a GM he would be included in any deal I would do.
If the Astros really like Ethan Pecko, he will be part of no deal. The Astros keep the prospects that they really like.
We have a lot of pitchers I would trade before I would trade Pecko. On the other hand I would be asking for Pecko first.
And how many pitchers would another team accept rather than just moving on to another of the 20 teams who need trade deadline reinforcements?
Most drafts net me from 3 to 5 new names on my most valuable prospects list. The names I am kicking around for this draft so far include--- Xavier Neyens*, #1 pick. Gabel Pentecost, best pitcher we picked up. Jase Mitchell* versatile catcher Elijah Farley* Texas HS outfielder Landon Arroyos Elite SS Who am I missing and who am I too enthusiastic on? Who you got?
Like I said, I love Pecko, but if trading him meant getting a premium bat I would do the WS. Pecko isn't a Tucker, Bregs level prospect. IMHO.
Brendan Rodgers with nasal fracture and concussion...? Well we can't get a break... or rather we keep getting breaks...
In order of how excited I am: Neyens Frey Potter Mitchell Monistere Saunier Walker Wakefield Oakes Smith Farley Call McLaughlin Pentecost Arroyos Hebert Daudet Thomas Newman
We can simply agree to disagree on this one. I'm not saying shop him, but this team MUST have another bat and not upgrading a potential World Series team because you want to hold on to Pecko sounds really short sighted to me. Remember Luhnow refusing to trade Whitley? Also, I would be shocked if he was among the 5 best SP on this team in 2026 and I think its 50/50 at best for 2027.
I’ve come to trust the Astros when it comes to keeping the pitchers that will make it, who’s the best pitcher we traded in the last 10 years? Joe Musgrove maybe
Hader is barely eligible in my 10 year window lol, but that’s the only one that hurt. Even then he’s an elite relief pitcher not an ace. Musgrove trade was well worth it, if Sandoval is your only net negative value for starting pitcher traded that’s pretty good imo.
Kevin Alvarez lined out and Anderson Arenaimo walked twice in the Dominican Summer League All-Star Game today. The AL won 10-8.
Alonzo Tredwell pitching pretty decently in High A. Think he’s still a project but he’s underrated prospect in terms of ceiling.
