I dont think its just loyalty, the money is also an angle I think this makes him the most paid dude in the NBA since he had the max and then gets 42M on top.

Harden just has incredibly bad luck in the Playoffs. I still think peak Harden is not only the best scorer ever but best playmaker/PG ever. Even better than Magic/Stockton in consequential sequences.

This is like saying for Barkley, without MJ and Pippen, he would have won a title or 2 titles.

Name a player that routinely scored over 60 while averaging 13+ assists in a span of 20 games?

I don't play silly games like that but you can actually win money by betting against him in the Playoffs.

This dude I feel can only win a Championship when Curry is heavily injured, Durant was heavily injured, Lebron was heavily injured.......

Only then.....and that is heavy stuff. His stats count for nothing......if he cannot deliver in Game 6s and 7s.

He is one of the first stat padders that actually could make it deep into the Playoffs and then he somehow has an error in his functions and the robot shuts itself down.

Like I said he has incredibly bad luck in the Playoffs. The thing is this past post season Harden didn't have a break down where he completely forgot how to play basketball. But the Rockets never had a Norman Powell caliper player at his side and what stains Harden the most is Kawhi Leonard was healthy and took that pressure off but they still fell short. That Gordon game winning putback demoralized that Clippers team and was absolute bad luck. I think they win that game and they might be able to challenge OKC with a different mindset.

I don't believe in luck, but I believe in losing weight.
I don't think he is fat per se but he could have easily shed 20-30 pounds in the offseason every year.

If he stayed in that early OKC shape or the 2012-13 shape that is probably his best shape to date without losing all his upper body strength.

    i think it's both.

Honestly he could have gone to another franchise with better opportunities to chase a ring. According to this he had multiple contenders offering and showing interest, pretty sure he'd have comparable money. He chose Portland over winning a ring.

The fact that this guy is going to pocket 154 million dollars post Achilles tear at 35 is flat out absurd.

What can I say though, keep cashing them checks as long as teams are dumb enough to keep writing them!

Bbut bbut but @Rocket River said there wasn’t a market for him and of course he knows better than actual NBA insiders :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:.

Harden fanbois hate on anyone and everyone that’s better than their bum ass loser hero. Bron, Steph, Giannis, Butler, Dame etc.

I think Dame just much rather be the man on a losing team rather than a second or third fiddle and ring chase on a contender. There's no other team where would he have as much control and influence as he does on the Blazers.

Dame getting his cousin Keljin Blevins onto the Blazer's roster was probably the worse case of NBA roster nepotism prior to Bronny.

While I do agree Dame definitely is not prioritizing competing for championships, he isn't going to be "the man" on the Blazers when he returns. At this stage of his career post-Achilles, he likely will be the second or third fiddle on their team. I don't think Dame necessarily wants to be "the man" anymore.

My wild guess is his highest priority is living where he wants to live because of his children while getting the most money possible. The Blazers stepped in by giving him the best of both worlds. In return, he will retire in Portland, be celebrated by the team as the best player in franchise history and have his jersey hung in the rafters next to Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas and others.

For a franchise like the Blazers, this is a "little win" that should generate lot's of good will from their fanbase and be good for business.

comparable money? No contender has the cap to offer him 42M. The biggest name attached to him is Boston who can only offer him vet min

It also makes the GM look smart because they got all those assets for free since they got Dame back.

The optics now look like the Blazers got Deni Avdija and other assets on top of Dame and Bucks just got dead cap for 5 yrs.

This. Dame loves Portland and Portland loves Dame despite what some CF members may say. Aside from the being close to family and retiring a legend in Portland he’s still got a lot of business ventures here including his car dealership. Between the Yang money and Dame coming back it’s an attractive buy for whoever the next owner is.
