I never knew that either, I try and tip above average but that's why I stopped using the app, my $12.00 meal ends up at $22.00 with fees and tips....I had a year of no service fees if you spent over $12 but that's expired, and I didn't realize how addicted to that app I was I feel kind of bad for the drivers and after learning more in this thread, its a real thing
It's strictly a side hustle. Feel bad for anyone doing it as a full time job and depending on that income.
Finally did some dashing a few nights ago while I was waiting on my kid's band rehearsal. Made $33 in 2 hours during the time when I would usually just be sitting in my car watching YouTube. I've discovered the key, which is that you can decline as many orders as you want without penalty. I cherry-pick the good ones and decline more than I accept. I declined anything that was: less than $2 per mile more than 3 miles away at an apartment complex (didn't want to waste time finding right apt #) at a slow restaurant (fast food only) Gonna try again tonight during the other kid's band rehearsal!
Instagram massage therapists, Yours Truly, D. Watson BTW while we are on the subject of side hustles and fringe jobs. All social media influencers should be rounded up and be made to play dodgeball using cell phones.
