Upper body shooting mechanics looking so clean now. If he can become a consistent, reliable midrange jump shooter, then he can score 20+ a night easily, because he can basically always get the space to get those shots off due to his physical talent. Along with his defense, rebounding, and passing that's all he needs to be considered an All-NBA caliber player IMO.
The Guard Whisperer needs to do some cardio, he's breathing heavily for 20+ minutes while basically just standing around. F*cked the audio up lol
So far, he's following the Kobe Bryant plan of bulking slightly each year. This is the best way to go.
Yep. I was debating with myself on whether he would be a better pick than Wemby. I had him ranked no. 2, but just barely.
With Amen and Wemby it will be determined by longevity. They are both truly headed for greatness. I was skeptical that Wemby could develop a 3 pt shot, but he did. Both have exhibited greatness and it will be up to the injury gods to determine if they are all-time greats or not. I haven’t seen enough of Flagg to make comment.
Thank you Portland, especially for drafting the Scoot Henderson hype machine!!!! I venture to think that Henderson’s play is making Portland fans doubt the competence of their General Manager; those fans are obviously aware of the headwinds Amen Thompson is making in the Rockets organization. When exactly do sweet lemons begin to taste like sour grapes?
I wonder, if we had the #2 pick, would we have drafted Scoot or maybe Miller? Sometimes luck is not what you think it is.
I still believe in Scoot to some degree personally, although Amen is better and will likely continue to be better. It's hard being a young inexperienced point guard in the NBA, but Scoot took a solid step forward from his rookie season on shooting efficiency and turnovers. Still very possible he ends up being something like a 20 and 8 guy in the league.
I think with the No. 2 pick, the Rockets would have drafted Miller. With the No. 3 pick, I think the Rockets draft Amen.
Yeah, that's basically the Russel Westbrook move - always be a threat to drive and hit the middy at a reasonable rate if you can't get to the rim. Maybe not the most efficient way to play, but efficient enough that it would unlock his otherworldly playmaking skills. I'm hoping to your point that the shot mechanics stay consistent given how strong and athletic he is. One of the things that always impacted Jalen Green was that it was so easy to be effective defensively if you were physical with him because he didn't have the strength to not get bumped off his line. That Amen can be a blur, is also adept at the Euro step, and has so much length and strength I think makes him far more capable of having a legit counter to teams crashing the paint to stop him. I also like that they are working on his ability to put some arc on the ball a bit which has the benefit of giving him a slightly better chance of getting his own rebound.
Scoot was tempting. He looked more polished than Amen. I am not writing him off yet. But the perception of his upside definitely have taken a hit after two disappointing seasons. I didn't want Miller because of his off-court troubles. These things can derail a talented player's career.
