Qatar gave a 747-8, which is going to be used by President Trump as Air Force 1, and will be remodeled at the expense of taxpayers. Then when Trump leaves office, the 747 goes to the Trump Presidential library, where Trump can use it as he wishes and all of the fueling and repairs will be paid for by-- US taxpayers. Why should the US taxpayers be on the hook to pay for updating the plane, that is not going to be used by future President's, but will go to the Trump library, where Trump can use it as he sees fit?

As far as I am concerned, we don't need an Air Force One at all, Trump can stay in the White House, and if he wants to travel can hop into any Air Force cargo craft that exists. The fact is that we are going to have AF1, multiple planes, all of them will be retrofitted at taxpayer expense, and they are not cheap (look at the contract with Boeing). I just don't care that one of them was given to the DoD by Qatar, because I don't have TDS. It is probably actually cheaper than buying one, because the plane itself is free, so maybe we save some taxpayer dollars. My preference would be spend zero on AF1, spend zero on any President after they leave office, and spend zero on a lot of other things. I just find it fun to correct the nonsense that I see about Trump getting a personal jet from Qatar, when it is very easy to verify he did not.
