Congratulations to your son. I sincerely wish him the best. I don't see soccer players as athletes. I just think they run around in circles. I'm not a soccer person though Altuve is better than a guy like Messi. He's severely undersized and I also think Messi is a cheater like most soccer players. In no way am I implying your Don is doing that. Just not a sport that I respect. I do with your son the best I played AAU and college myself
This is a wild take, haha. Baseball players are more athletic because they run in straight lines around a pentagon? Or in the outfield? Did you ever play soccer? There are no heavyset, or arguably out of shape professional players in soccer, that I can think of (limited knowledge of professional soccer but I watch World Cup and stuff). In basketball we talk all the time about out of shape players, eg Luka. And maybe this is well known, I just don’t watch much soccer outside the national team, but how does Messi cheat? How do most soccer players cheat? The fake injury thing where they are saved by the magic spray?
I'm glad your sons education is getting paid for. Other than day drinking during the World Cup, I would rather watch paint dry. No offense is meant to you or your son. I hope he does well.
Yeah watching soccer players fall down like they've been shot is the best part of the game because they make me LMAO when they're back running around in circles 5 mins later.
Yep, I believe I read somewhere some time ago that soccer is one of the most physically demanding team sports. (Another physically demanding team sport is water polo. There are individual sports such as marathon and cross country cycling that are more demanding.) You have to be constantly running, accelerating, decelerating, jumping, changing direction, no timeout in the middle of the game, few whistle stoppages, and only 2 substitutions in the whole game.
Soccer players are not Athletes? Yes they are and you don't know anything about sports in general. If you play any cardio sport, you are a Athlete.
That’s why poker is played with money. You can’t keep making baseless claims hoping that they will come out true.
I guess you have not seen high paced shoot out games but okay....... I only know because the pitch is 10x bigger than a bball court and you play 90+ instead of 48 minutes..... Guys tend to run a lot more and faster than in basketball. Shutting down the Paint = Parking the bus. I take any Penalty Shootouts over Over Time basketball...... and also take NHL Hockey Penalties.
I think it's an American attitude because soccer is a 2nd or 3rd tier sport in the US, the best, most elite American athletes don't play soccer so I think that's where the false perception comes from. Obviously soccer players are athletes but more average Joe types could watch soccer and think "i can do that" than a sport like basketball. The average American male is 5'9 (sounds short, but i looked it up), based on biology alone they have right at a 0% chance of making it in the NBA no matter what happens.... but you can be 5'3 and make it in the top levels of soccer. People look at 3rd tier sports as sports played by athletes who aren't good enough (or biologically lucky enough) to play higher tier sports. While that's not entirely accurate, it is what it is.
Soccer players run around for an hour and accomplish absolutely nothing the vast majority of the time.
