We are 25 years into the century and of the four presidents and eras we have lived through, only one stands head and shoulders above the rest: Barack Obama. So far, he has been our greatest U.S. president of the 21st century. I deeply miss his leadership and integrity. He inherited a nation in economic freefall and led it through recovery with steady, pragmatic and bipartisan policies. His landmark Affordable Care Act expanded healthcare to millions. On the global stage, he restored America’s image and advocated for diplomacy over conflict. Obama lived up to his campaign promise of HOPE.
It’s safe to say he was the best of the past 50 years. But that ain’t saying a lot. Clinton had good economic growth. The GOP oversaw the steady erosion of the one income household, rapid inflation and destruction of the gold standard.
link will work for everyone Obama to Democrats: ‘Toughen Up’ The former president has a credibility problem. https://www.wsj.com/opinion/obama-t...6?st=MbyoyS&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink
LOL he tells democrats to "show courage" while speaking at a private fundraiser. Obama hasn't changed a single bit Obama letting homeowners go bust was one of the worst policy decisions anyone made in recent history. Obama personally believed giving homeowners relief was wrong and instead thought bailing out the banks was a better idea. .... Obama literally wanted to cut social security and drastically cut back Medicare which would've kicked millions from Healthcare at a time unemployment was 10%.....
Obama's arrogance and incompetence gave us Trump. Obama's hyper-focus on racial matters gave us Trump. Obama's weakness on foreign policy gave us Trump. Obama's complete fealty to the Deep State gave us Trump. Obama's horrible economic and financial instincts gave us Trump. Obama's paternalistic and big government-knows-best instincts gave us Trump. He had every advantage possible (support from DC establishment, support from the intel community, support from the media, support from the Federal Reserve, support from international countries) and managed to squander it. Trump has been winning in the face of serious opposition from all of these places. Just goes to show how effective of a leader Trump truly is. We suffered through the Obama years, but that suffering led us to Trump and a much better place. It probably saved our democracy and prevented rule-by-unelected/unaccountable bureaucrat in DC. Had Clinton or Harris won, the will of the American voter would have been cast aside for a generation perhaps. Trump saved us from that. GOOD DAY
Other than trying to hook up with every woman he saw and getting a BJ in the office, Clinton has the best resume. Balanced the budget, record economic growth, Lowered crime rates, low unemployment, 22 million new jobs, lowest teen birth rate in 60 years, lowest government spending in comparison to the GDP in since the 50's, higher incomes for all levels.
Yes, he was, but he still didn't do enough, he should have codified Roe vs. Wade, he should have appointed a SC justice when McConnel refused to do the Senate's job, there was precedence for doing that. But overall, the guy was amazing. DD
No President is perfect but he was the most competent. He didn't put into policies that his friend and predecessors Biden and Harris did for Black Americans in terms of policy that help business ownership, etc, go look it up, but his diplomacy and dignity is right up there with Jimmy Carter in terms of the toughest times in American History.
The reason you have consolidation in healthcare to the degree it is, and insurance companies making absolutely insane record profits is due to Obama care well intentioned, but to get it to pass he made a deal with the devil (insurance). Cut the doctors out and that is why our healthcare is worse than before and far more expensive.
Didn't live up to the hype. Wasn't even close. I wasn't a fan and still am not. Great person, highly moral, just wasn't that great at governing and getting things done considering the hand he was dealt. But as @JuanValdez stated, there isn't much competition in the 21st century. He's 1000x better than them, except for Biden. Biden did much more with less. However, Biden has a bigger failure in not meeting the number one reason why he ran - a return to normalcy and protecting democracy.
Healthcare costs are increasing for various reasons mainly people are living longer. They are increasing at a slower rate than before the ACA We weren't going to get a single payer system. The bottom line is a lot more people have insurance .
I'm not arguing against Clinton having a better term but Clinton had the tech economy when technology was here Edit: republicans were a lot less hostile towards reaching across the aisle, the only reason we have the ACA is because Bush ended so badly we had 60 Democrats
So you aren't wrong, but if you dive deeper you'll understand why I'm right. Look at % allocated towards actual care vs administrative costs. Its one of the greatest heists in modern history. Give people a shitty wellness check or physical annually and call it coverage/care--- while you require prior auths on the most basic standard of care to avoid shelling out any actual money. To put it bluntly, its bragging about feeding a village while you disguise yesterday's turd in a cake as tomorrow's meal
Bush 1 sacrificing his presidency and raising taxes has to be taken into account in the Clinton economy A very underrated president
Unfortunately we aren't living longer because we go to the doctor and make better decisions because we have "better" insurance, we're living longer because of advanced in medicine which is expensive but I'm I'm not disagreeing with this
He was too nice Played politics too much and Conceded far too much ground His weaknesses gave us Trump because at that point the Republican Party was in a shambles Instead of stomping it out . .. he let them ember smoulder and the wildfire came back to destroy the whole forrest Rocket River Still the Best President though
