Yeah, woohoo, we can spend more money on coffee now. That will teach them. Funny though, we ran a $6.8 billion trade surplus with Brazil last year, and can't exactly start producing all that coffee to be grown in America. o_O

The same pattern works the other way too. It's so interesting how so many countries that invest in or promise to approve deals for Trump real estate ventures, promoted and supported Trump's crypto businesses, and flattered his ego with praise, and ego stroking gifts have gotten sanctions dropped, tariffs lowered, and other support.

What Trump Trade Policy Has Achieved Since ‘Liberation Day

the top 2 objectives for the trade deals have been
    1. return mfg base to the US
    2. narrow the huge gap in trade deficits
a trade deal is not done until it becomes law, when it is voted on in Congress.

As the ninety-day period came to a close last week, Trump 2.0 has simply verified what trade experts already know:

so far, 92 days since "liberation day, no trade deals; only an agreement withe UK, with whom the US enjoys a trade surplus. US trade deficits increase ~6% in April, and another 11% in May.

So Trump 2.0 is pivoting its position yet again moving the negotiating deadline to the beginning of August.
Experts see this TACO move as one to avoid the negative stock market reaction they triggered on April 2.

The constantly changing tariffs and shifting deadlines---TACO---may get countries to the table, but very few will tackle
comprehensive trade issues if the Trump 2.0 cannot guarantee that the trade chaos will come to an end.

He has no qualms slapping 50% tariffs on Brazil, yet is stalling and stalling on doing it to Russia. Just today he threatened 50% tariffs on Russia if a deal isn't made to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days.

Why 50 days? He gives leaders like Putin and Netanyahu opportunity after opportunity to keep killing and killing, committing crimes against humanity, killing thousands of innocent civilians, destroying hospitals, homes, schools, and infrastructure in Ukraine and Gaza without slapping sanctions or stronger tariff threats on either of them already.

He promised to end those wars day one. Why didn't he? It's because they've had his balls in their grip ever since he took office again.

    from Bloomberg,

Economists have long warned of a tariff-driven boost to US inflation, and the next report on consumer prices will put their conviction to the test.
and those forecasters are again warning of acceleration, with June data due Tuesday. Economists see price rises in tariff-exposed categories including furniture, toys, recreational goods and cars.

US imposes a 17% duty on fresh Mexican tomatoes in hopes of boosting domestic production

And who is going to pick the tomatoes? Chat GPT?

This is just pure dumbassery that didn't work 100 or 200 years ago. Not going to work now either.

This is just another tax increase on American consumers

The fired USAID workers can pick the tomatoes. Or the broke liberal journalists at Politico whose 8000 government-funded subscriptions were cancelled.

[and for those not paying attention, the tariffs helped give the USA a budget surplus in June]

Today's June inflation report was in-line with expectations and below 3%... once again dismissing the liberals' theory that tariffs are causing inflation. This economy is strong. And we have great leadership from people who are leading on economic and trade issues.

Biden brought the country runaway inflation, and Trump has delivered real wage growth and low inflation. This is great news for working class Americans.

Going to really suck when it gets cold and we don't have American tomatoes...

And honestly, domestic tomato growing is probably the biggest threat to domestic tomato farmers. So many people grow their own tomatoes, and the crunchy/homestead movement that social media has fueled only increases the amount of people that don't buy tomatoes. Granted the biggest market is McDonalds and other fast food chains.

The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7 percent from a year ago, the swiftest pace since February, data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed on Tuesday. That is slightly higher than expected and is up from an annual pace of 2.4 percent in May.

“Core” inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices and is seen as a reliable gauge for underlying price pressures, also shifted higher. Those prices were up 2.9 percent from the same time last year.

Liberals would rather give up border integrity, national security, and real wage growth for the working class if it means they get their tomato on their Big Mac.

It's no wonder the Dems keep taking L's!

traitor george needs to stop lying.

June's reading is the highest since February, when the CPI rose 2.8% on an annual basis.

On a month-over-month basis, the CPI rose 0.3%, which is the largest increase since January and in line with economists' forecasts.

anyone who understands economics---automatically excluding Traitor George----knows that tax cut for the uber rich
(indigenous to Trump's big ugly budget bill) adversely affects the real wage growth for the middle class

Fentanyl primarily comes from China and through the Mexican border. However, a lot of it actually comes to the USA through the mail as well. The reality is that getting it into the USA isn't hard and if needed, it can even be made inside the USA.

Drug addiction and recreational use is a major problem in the United States, but it had less to do with availability and more to do with the social and economic issues that lead to someone using the substance.

The Trump tariffs are an absolute joke and an embarrassment for the USA. If anything, it is amazing that it hasn't had an even stronger negative effect on the economy yet, but the vast majority of experts believe it is coming.

Donald Trump is the most divisive President in modern US history.

LOL, do the uber rich earn tips and work overtime on an hourly basis? Trump delivered on no tax on tips, no tax on overtime. The investing account for newborns are for all. The funding of the border wall will stop the flow of illegal labor and help create real wage gains for the working class.

The OBBB was a tax cut that paid specific attention to the working class
. This bill will help create significant economic opportunity for this group.

LMAO! You just reinforced the accuracy of my post! Inflation was low, and in-line with expectations. Inflation was below 3.0%. Look at that runaway inflation under Biden -- on the very graph that you just posted. Thank God we have a President who knows how to tame inflation. And he just did it.

The working class benefits the most from Trump's successful ability to stifle inflation.

    GOOD DAY
