Coming down to Texas for my 40th class reunion in August. We are staying at South Shore Resort. Last time I was there the traffic was a nightmare. Is the traffic still crappy? My wife wants to eat at the Aquarium on the Kemah boardwalk. Is it worth the hassle to venture down there?
League City isn't as bad as Kemah. They are building a new 146 bridge last time I checked. 45 has new concrete at 646 and bay area so those spots move better than before. I think the new construction of these overpasses has moved down to Texas City near the Tanger outlets.
Dang they were working on the bridge last time i was there 2 years ago. I guess it's better than the old drawbridge. We lived in Kemah and the rest of the family lived in Seabrook. Weekends sucked so much that my parents used to go around the Clear Lake and go down old nasa rd 1
Yep, we lived in Seabrook then Shoreacres but moved right before they started demolishing all of the businesses on 146 to make room for the bridge. It was a good choice.
Actually, after searching some articles the bridge may be finished. I guess I haven't been over there in a year. I can confirm the Ship Channel beltway bridge and the new Corpus bridge are not finished lol.
Two of my favorite restaurants were casualties of the clear out Don't know if anyone remembered the old Dutch Kettle and Burchess Two E's Restaurant. Burchess actually moved closer to my house on Lawrence Road, so that worked out. PS where did Tookies move to?
I don't remember those. Tookie's moved to the other side of the bridge so it is in Kemah now. There is a Tookie's seafood in Seabrook now. It is hit or miss and somewhat expensive. Merlion is still in Seabrook and still gets pretty good reviews from my friends.
Main Street in LC still sucks. It’s complete. There’s an elevated bypass that skips the boardwalk traffic.
Your post prompted me to check out the area. I didn't know they had started a new elevated bridge. Its a far cry from the old drawbridge. I spend my childhood in Kemah/Seabrook. Feeling nostalgic
I started my life on Aspen Lane in Seabrook for my first ten years on this earth. Little league fields just behind the houses on the other side of the street. Swimming pool just a few blocks away. I wonder what the neighborhood is like now. Proud graduate from James F. Bay elementary. lol Then off to Kemah I went.
I went to Lavace Stewart up until 2nd grade before moving off to LC. My mom forced us to go to a shitty pentecostal church off 1st street in Seabrook. My childhood friend lived on the street that ran beside toddville mansion. My brother always loved fishing the entire channel, long before Tilman ****ed up Kemah. Ccorn lives in Kemah...i think. I hope I didn't dox him. He may have moved back to San Leon where he belongs
Haven’t been to the LC in forever, moved there as a kid when it was the new up and coming area and clear lake was an established region. went back recently and Jesus wtf happened to clear lake. Run down , old and feels like all the prosperity left. the people there also have a loser attitude
