Young players need minutes to develop. Ime is in win now mode so those moments will be few and far between barring a FVV injury. it is what it is.
This. Detroit hounded him with three or four defensive players every time. They threw the sink and the whole kitchen at him because the other Rockets were just not worth guarding. In the real season, teams cannot obviously do that to Reed because they have to contend with KD, Alpi, and Bari at the same time. Reed has already shown how good he can be and was able to show that he had good ball handling skills despite the overwhelming pressure thrown at him by opponents. He has a lot to learn, but I think he is good enough that teams will have to pay attention to him, too, during the season. He looks good, and the Rockets are better for it.
15? he is far worse than Utah's Collier who is a 29th pick last year. Sun's Koby Brea, who is the 41th pick in this year's draft, is only good at shooting and can do nothing else. Sheppard is not even as good as him at this point.
When we drafted him, I asked "which position is he going to play?" I think that is still the pertinent question and the reason we're going to have to find a backup point guard even along side Holiday. Hopefully we have some kind of overpowering team this year like we did in 17-18 and we can get Reed lots of playing time up double digits against demoralized teams.
PG is the only position he can play. At 6'2 he cant play sg long term he is too small. He can do the role switcheroo with Amen cuz Amen is 6'7 but Reed still needs to be in the 1 spot guarding other 1s.
Rare miss? He's had 4 shots at top 4 lotto picks and only gotten the right guy once so far. Got saved by OKC preferring Dieng over Sengun
I think the trade was stupid. Really puts this team at a roster disadvantage. Losing Brooks is bigger than what people think. And now we have a guard issue. Doesn’t make sense.
What does hounded mean? I didn’t see him trapped or blitzed. They played him straight up hard one on one defense
McConnell could be the Anti Sheppard though, hardworking, blue collar, seemingly unathletic but enough bounds to make foes uncomfortable. Undrafted underdog vs. High pick Prince Sheppard.
Exactly! Ppl here see top 3 picks and are like, it's fine he didn't pan out.... he can eventually be our Taj Gibson or JJ Barea. That's not how this works lol.
Even more so. Its okay that Amen, Reed, and Jabari all came off the bench but Jalen was DEMANDED to be a star or he has to go. I guess being the 3rd pick gives you a much longer leash than the 2nd.
LOL. People see what they want to see. Reed was guarded one on one most of the game and could not get around his man. It is his biggest weakness and if he is going to be successful as a creator he will have to overcome it. Coaching should be concentrating on him moving without the ball and positioning himself to take advantage of his shooting.
