This is what 49% of Americans that bothered to vote, voted for. Donald Trump is a blowhard and a liar - but is for the most part doing exactly what he said he would do.
And lots of these MAGA folks are about to realize they’ve been the welfare queens. Rural America needs a good slap.
This is what democrats are fighting against. They are fighting an uphill battle, because despite being educated on the bill, they will not get through to these individuals that don't believe the administration had anything to do with this. You really can't come to these people with your facts and believe you are going to win them over. You may just have to match ignorance with ignorance and hope you can maybe win these individuals that way.
Deep down they know it, but it won't stop them from voting against their best interests. You keep the population ignorant and it is easy to sucker them in with any propaganda.
I don't think you're on medicaid or living in a one-light town in rural America, so you're probably not going to feel the dissolution of the safety net very deeply. I won't feel it either. I just believe as an academic exercise that it is going to be a disaster for a lot of Americans that I don't know.
I've felt it over the last couple years and largely contribute it to the incompetence of the Biden administration. Fortunately the company i work for may get bought out instead of going into bankruptcy, thus not being forced into early retirement. While I personally will be ok either way, under Trump I can at least continue to accumulate wealth to help others in my family who have not done as well. There was a time I would have supported the candidate of greater good over my own well being, however its a lesson learned. Take what you can while you can and help those in your own tribe first.
