Detroit actually plays a lot like us, their Gleague team played a lot harder though.

They fight fire with fire and Shepp wasn't used to that.

He does not have short arms but also does not have lengthy arms.

Like others have said, I don't think he's timid. My guess is that he's trying to figure out his role and is overthinking things instead of reacting instinctively.

I think he would be helped by having a more limited and defined role this season, which is why I brought up Barea. Also, getting consistent minutes playing alongside a primary offensive option would probably help.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind Sheppard having the mentality of Barea, because that dude was tiny but tough.

The over-analysis in this thread is crazy. Reed nothing like JJ Barea.

Hoo boy! Training camp can't get here soon enough.

On the bright side he's shot 10 FTs in 2 games. He only had 16 free throw attempts last season.

It is obvious Reed is not ready for NBA. The question is Will Ime have patience for his improvement. I don't think so.

I did not say that he was. I do think he might be helped by having a limited and complementary backup role, like Barea had on that championship Mavs team.

But yeah, I do agree on the over-analysis LOL.

Kd k average misses over 20 games a season recently. It’ll be interesting to see what the team is like when that happens. We’ll be without a primary perimeter threat. That’s not amen or Senguns game.

Dont worry bro I am sure Ime and the coaching staff will sort it out. Defense is what they're good at.

There is no conclusion if he is ready or not, he merely plays against loose Defenses better than against good Defenses, we saw last night.

He would have problems against secondary units that target him and his handles.

I haven't watched either game, but it looks like Reed has been pretty bad. Even in the first game, 28 points on 25 shots isn't very impressive.

We're starting to see the crash out of a troll. How does one harp on efficiency for 4 years but make excuses for the inefficiency of a player he likes. Reed Sheppard is low IQ CHUCKER according to your standards

Harden used to get 16 free throws a game :). Honestly, he’ll never be a Harden type number 3 pick and we have to accept that. His skill set at best is JJ Reddick/Steve Kerr level. He would be well served to start the season in the G-League for a month to sharpen some weaknesses (i.e. defense, dribbling, turnovers). Some players it takes time to develop….he has some skills, but just not ready to be the main guard backup quite yet.
