Stone should be working the phones trying to sign a big that can set a real screen for the remainder of the Summer League. Buncha Christian Woods out there today.
Teammates certainly haven't helped Reed's cause, but there's no denying he just didn't have it today. Looked like his hotel room had two beds and he somehow woke up on the wrong side of both of them.
Overall terrible game, I'm thinking Reed Sheppard has been focusing on lifting instead of cardio because he was gassed almost immediately. He was moving slowly, seemingly every shot was coming up short, and when he would get knocked down (which happened a lot due to know Detroit was playing) he would get up VERY slowly. Either it's a cardio issue, or the leg thing from last game was more serious than they let on.
I don’t like some of his decisions on both ends. once again neglecting his guy on perimeter while going after a guy in the paint. His guy saw this and cut to the basket for easy layup he waits too long to pass to the roll man. He usually lobs up a pass on the long roll continues to reach and go for steals instead of just playing solid straight up defense Needs to be aware of his body position and where defense is. Tends to spin when he has nowhere to guy ending in a strip Hopefully next game will be his best one
I highly doubt they'll do it. It could be a human rights violation to force an NBA player to play 3 games alongside a team full of guys who would be last picked in YMCA pick up games.
Wasn't ready for the intensity Detroit was going to bring. Im sure their staff had a bounty on him and they played like it. Add that to his teammates being total zeroes and you get what you get. Honestly they were playing so reckless I wouldve been fine with him just sitting the second half. Id probably tell Bickerstaff something if I'm Ime. You can give effort but playing borderline dirty in the SL against rotation players is a little weird to me. Rockets had more intense squads last couple years and dont remember being as dirty as this Detroit team was being today.
This is the type of matchup you'd expect Reed to handle better after a year in the league. He was much worse. I'm afraid quick, determined athletes like Jenkins are just too much for him right now. I hope he gets better. And bet your ass, I'd have him playing more games.
It’s Possible. Nate and Dante played all 5 last year and Reed played in 4 games last year including a b2b i believe
