His cross court and outlet passes look very good. I hope he can do more interior pocket passes on PnR.

BTW, how many open looks he created for Jeenathan and got wasted.

We can all see his potential, but I was a little disappointed with most of his NBA performances last season. Really hope he can step it up this season. Better playmaking and shooting are the two glaring needs for the offense, so he could be exactly what we need.

Exactly how I see him. The odds of him being Steph Curry level are remote, but it's not impossible he could kinda split the difference between FVV's production and Curry's, and maybe make a few all-star teams in his prime. That would be basically his best-case outcome, to be clear.

Yeah I think he clearly has a higher baseline of talent than Fred for sure, I just remember listening to JJ Redick on his podcast and how much work he has to do to overcome the physical limitations and be good enough to compete. Reed seems more like that type of player by his measurables, and sure his shooting coming out of college was next level but so was Jabari's if we're being honest about it. I can definitely see him being a lot better than FVV overall, and he should project to be in the upper tier of shooters, I'm just not convinced that's enough for him to start being in all-star conversations. I could see him easily developing into a long time starter though for sure.

So 1 minute it's he played like **** because of the lack of talent around him and the next it's well, he has no choice but to play as such because of the lack of talent around him... Hmmmm

But all was forgiven because of a 90 seconds stretch ? Get ready for the doghouse in year 2 under Ime... lol

I like this take. Most of the time he's looking to make the correct play, not take over the game. However, he has shown flashes where he has taken over. I don't think he will be someone who takes over games like Curry, but I do think we made the right pick at #3. And with KD on the team, I think he will get better looks and have a very productive season.

    Yes.

He played both, he was the team leader in assists and usually ran the offense, but also he shared the court with Rob Dillingham who was sort of a tiny ball dominant SG.

Both came off the bench because Calipari is an idiot who promised the starting jobs to scrubs.

He is soooo very young, his ceiling is high. I expect him to blossom soon, but it may take longer. He needs some playing time.

Definitely the odds are VERY tiny of him being Steph Curry level, the fact that it's not outright zero is nice.

He's more of a complimentary player, a pass first PG who looks to make the right play, but can burn teams with his shooting if they don't constantly keep a guy on him.

I don't watch much college ball. Just high lights and NCAA tourney games. The fact that they had two other starter level PGs on the team, I am guessing he played off ball more. BUT he led the team in assists per game even though he's technically not their starter. That shows me that he's a pass first kind of player. That matches the eye test on how he plays at the pro level.

He settled in after 1st quarter jitters. Game 2 will tell us more about Reed than last night. I’m gonna be very focused on his ball skills. But all I wanted out of his first game was to see a confident, aggressive mindset, which he lacked last year, and we certainly saw that. Now I want to see more of the on-ball guard skills.

10-25? This would be inefficient chucker numbers if this was Jalen. Bobby approves?

Wrong because he scored more points than shots he took. Jalen got flamed for the games he took more shots than points scored. It's when he shoots 17 times to get 15 points. Or 13 times to get 7 points. Etc. happened far too frequently.

I think you and most of us don't have enough information to drawn any meaningful conclusions about this player.

This. His 3pt. shots would have been 6/13 if the two last-second heaves were not counted. That would be a hell of a 3pt. average, considering that he did not have the benefit of any proper screens set for him, and it is just the first game he played after the regular season ended. I am not making excuses for him, but just presenting reality. Some are comparing him to JJ Redick, but I think Reed is much more athletic, a much better passer, and a better shooter. I see his game more as Stockton-lite in that he tends to be a past-first player, and with a tendency to go more for steals. His 3pt. shot might be comparable, too, and he is more athletic. Imagine if we will see a regular dose of Reed to Amen games, just like the Stockton to Malone diets that we were fed for many years in the past. I can just imagine and hope.
