Heavy on the heart to follow this team. Just few days ago I was on the hype train with the rest. Gotta just recalibrate and be happy that we will crawl to winning pretty bad AL West even with all the injuries and medical stuff right out of comedic drama series like Northern Exposure. They are friendly clueless family doctors and couple of young ones with degree from online courses and relatives in Astros org. The AL as whole is so even and tight that trade deadline might be more meaningful this year than usual allthough not so many sellers. I am now setting my mindset to we being 3rd div. winner and playing Tampa, Seattle or Boston in best of three crap shoot. We prob are not getting any real bats with any payroll and only garbage finds our hope. Something like clubhouse cancer drunk Verdugo might be biggest name we might get. All 4 Seattle's righties (Kirby, Gilbert, Castillo, Woo) can zero us, Boston's young bats starting to rake and they have promised to use Devers money to add, and I don't like how we measure against Tampa righties either. Team like Brewers (fortunately in NL) might be nightmare for us. Pitch n defend well and take team AB's all day while stealing bases also. Even Texas coming up, I will skip some games and try to be happy where we are. They overachieved so long that coming down to their actual level feels terrible to watch. Hopefully Walker did't leave the bat to LA I guess and gives us some jolt .
Even with the sweep, we have the 3rd best record in baseball. Maybe we can limp into the ASB winning a series against TX. Then we should start getting guys back, one by one.
No one can doubt that the man absolutely loves baseball - respect the passion and effort from Dallas.
FU for making me click off the ignore list eta fyi: LA is 9-10 in his starts, Stros are 13-5 in Framber's
Fyi: LA sucks What a horrible comparison Let me know if they resign Framber for 5 years $150 when you coulda had Kuchi for 3 $60
Could they though? FA means the players have the freedom to decide. Kikuchi likely wanted to go to a large media market. And Japanese players overwhelmingly like the coasts. Framber does not want to be a FA again in 5 years. Fried got 8 yrs, Corbin got 6, Nola got 7. In my opinion, Framber would rather have 6 yrs and $180M than 5 yrs and $165M. He will sign the longest offer he gets unless its for same or more total $$.
The problem with that is there is no reason to expect more than three years of productivity from him. I would start at three years and $75 million dollars. If the return offer is not commensurate I would have to let him walk.
His agent would not even respond. Min. 3 yr offer he considers = $120M Min. 4 yr offer he considers = $152M Min. 5 yr offer he considers = $165M The window to sign Framber closed 2 years ago. No chance he is an Astro in 2026 at a cost that does not hurt the team somewhere else.
So when did his agent give you all that detailed information? Conversations have to start somewhere. If his agent did not respond he should be fired for failure to represent his client.
Not when an offer is insultingly below market value. And the agent will have a significantly better offer without doing anything. The way offers work is if you want a shorter deal, you have less risk and commit to fewer non-prime seasons. You must offer more AAV. $25M is too little for 6 years much less only 3. Max Fried got 8 yrs $218M. Thats more than twice as long + more $$ season. Corbin Burnes got 6 yrs $210M Nathan Eovaldi got 3 yrs $75M at 35 yrs old and having only 1 season of 30+ games started and 1 season of 3.0+ WAR in his career. Framber is younger, much better and has a much better record of health and availability. Your offer is simply insulting.
