Wow, no buzz or discussion of this one? Maybe I didn't find the right thread, but I finally saw this yesterday.

Underwhelmed: basic plot and dialogue writing (sometimes downright painful).

Overwhelmed: creature design, world building. really nice.

Pattinson continues his string of amazing performances (and here with a not great script).

Ruffalo really lays a huge egg in this one and holds the movie back. He just never found his footing in his politician character; true, he had terrible, unbelievable lines to deliver, in almost every scene, but still I expect more from him. It's like he couldn't decide what to do with the character or was having conflict with the director maybe?

Worth streaming for sure, for Pattinson and the creatures alone. Some of the dark humor is on point as well, which you'd expect from the director. He just needs a good editor when it comes to dialogue.

Weird, Terry Gilliam-style movie without the Terry Gilliam magic.

Yeah, definitely a weirder movie than I was expecting. Probably worth a watch just for Pattinson's performance. He's really good. Most of the rest is kind of meh.

I rather enjoyed watching it with the wife, her reactions made me laugh. Honestly, I was pretty entertained. Would watch again.

One of those movies that I enjoyed but was wondering when it was going to end despite only being about 2 hr 20 min.

Pattinson was good… but everyone else kinda had this uncanny valley aspect of being caricatures of people instead of people inhabiting a world. Or maybe Pattinson just pulled the performance off much better.
