Political environment and mortality rates in the United States, 2001-19: population based cross sectional analysis

Now on the statement, I agree that kill is a choice word

But If you rewrite that to be

GOP policies result in more deaths of children and adults

    Arguably not insane

so . . . is it (a) the Republicanism that is the cause or (b) the rurality of those states or (c) or the comparatively lower economic levels of the population in those states or (d) other factor (or factors) that is the significant cause of the mortality rates? or some combination of all of the above? and if so, in what relative proportion for each?

otherwise all we're talking about is correlation

Rurality and economic are serious considerations that are likely difficult but important to parse out, they go over some data on the rural part in the BMJ link at the top of the page. Unfortunately they did not go over economics in that specific study, but at the same time economics is not something that is entirely decoupled from governance in general.

I can try to find more on the topic a bit later, feel free to share anything you find interesting as well. I love to learn.

I can’t take these mindless drones seriously

she starts off talking about the 2020 election being stolen and that Jan 6th was a setup…all the hours of work and dollars spent was based on lies to begin with

and we all know she’s not actually done because if an election was held next week and Trump was on the ballot, her brainless ass would vote Trump

these fools get played every single day…Epstein died during Trump’s presidency, and now all the files and evidence are being covered up during his 2nd presidency because Trump is all over those files posing in 4k

I’d love to be able to catch a big fish for my son, he’s getting bored with the 4-8 inch fish we get around here.

If the fundamentals of Republican economic plans tend to lead to higher poverty rates, decoupling economic variables would be a disservice. That’s a tough one. For the most part most economic data over the last 40-50 years tends to favor Dem presidents nationally. Comparing on a state level, today Red states have much higher levels of growth, but that may be because they have a lot more room to grow compared to the blue states that already massively grew in the prior decades.

I’ll keep looking at it. Considering taking my kid to ocean for bigger fish.

my guess is they have (generally speaking) a lower tax burden . . . which may or may not reflect "Republican policies"

Sure lower taxes, smaller safety nets, more poverty, worse health outcomes. Generally speaking.

Strictly speaking on growth, less developed areas growing faster than more developed areas is naturally expected. It’s not like we’d infer that Asia and Africa are on track to have better economic outcomes than the western world because of greater growth rates. It’s just different time lines of development.

why is growth "naturally expected" in less developed areas? Upstate New York is certainly a less developed area when compared to downstate (NYC/Westchester/Long Island/Middletown) and has been less developed for the last 100+ years. There is basically NO growth occurring in upstate New York--naturally expected or otherwise.

It might be better to look at specific economic policies that contribute to growth in places like Texas etc., in addition to certain natural advantages that Sun Belt states have over those in a northern climate. I don't think we can speak of economic growth as something that is "naturally expected."

Part of it also what Ezra Klein wrote about in Abundance. Democratic governance of cities like New York, San Francisco, and Seattle has made it too difficult to build housing and provide services. Austin was ground zero for this in Texas but, unlike the other cities I mentioned, they aggressively changed land use codes and now there's a housing surplus in the city. That's great!

The problem is holistic and doesn't neatly fall along Democratic/Republican lines.

I say that because it’s a global phenomenon. The more developed an area is the slower the development rate becomes. There are no highly developed countries with very fast growing economies.

The northeast and the west coast are in particular the most developed and densely populated areas of this country.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that low population areas are bound to grow. Upstate NY might be milked for all it’s worth relative to what the land provides and where it’s situated. I’m sure weather and geography is key.

Alex Jones has always been doing a bit, even if he gets so into it he forgets, sometimes. Overt emotional displays and especially things like crying, draw more repeat clicks. He'll do whatever he needs to do to get you to look at him. There isn't a sincere bone in the man's body.
