I remember scouting Trifunovic and this dude has a crazy consistent teardrop shot. Too bad he isn't really good athletically and defensively
Yeah I don't care. Reed could play terribly and I'd just chock it up to lack of motivation and he could play great and it'd just be lack of competition so it really doesn't matter. Honestly, if these past few seasons of tanking has taught me anything Summer league don't matter at all. At the end of the day, they are basically gleague games.
I doubt Reed will play terribly in fact I would he surprised if he doesnt play like Cocaine Curry. Dude was between GLeague and NBA last year he should tear through the summer league.
I don't care about scoring and shooting in minor competition. But fluid movement, and passing you can get out of it. Those things are universal. The Thunder game? He had 25 and only 5 assists. He is more of a poor man Booker right now and not even that.
ahh, almost forgot my man, Adonis Arms. Zippo awareness, let alone knowledge, but love his name. ‘Board bruiser of a name.
Just heard that the NRA will be attending Friday’s game…..to see Jeenethan Williams play in person. If going to the game it is suggested fans wear bulletproof vests.
The thing is though lesser competition means easier to score and pass and do what you want. Him having one 20 point game in a regular season game means more than him averaging 50 points in the summer league. So that's why it doesn't matter to me, summerleague is pretty much gleague level of play but more unorganized. The guys that don't make a team are usually going down to the gleague or overseas. I think it might be important for new rookies to see if they can handle the jump in competition since it is a jump up from college but at the same time it's also not a jump up from college because its so unorganized so in the end really I feel it just exists to evaluate fringe prospects and exists for international leagues to scout guys as well.
We've already seen that in the NBA. The small sample of the Summer League doesn't matter one way or the other since that's not a real question.
The gripe is he always played like the short SG type next to Dillingham. Turning him into a high assist guy is really going to take a lot from Udoker who was a scrub SF, so nothing to do with playmaking.
Of course, people who actually watched the games know that wasn't the case... but you know how narratives are.
I just meant it was a concern from last season, not that we can make any definitive statement about it after 2-4 summer league games. The rockets have a knack for taking sharpshooters and turning them into...not sharpshooters. I know Reed had a great second half of the season from the 3 point line, but his midrange was bad all year. Personally I am still most worried about the consistency of his shooting. It's really REALLY hard to be a bad NBA player if you're a great shooter, even if you're bad at pretty much everything else. Not that Reed is bad at everything else, I'm just saying that it sets your floor pretty high.
