Pitt is 12-32 on the road. 26-21 at home. Mariners got them at home. Astros played them on the road (of course).
Also Skenes was absolutely dealing and left the game early after 5 innings because Pirates wanted him well rested for his All-Star start. Right after he gets taken out, Mariners scored. He definitely could've gone at least 7 otherwise. Mariners now get to face a Yankees team on the worst skid of the season. They've looked dreadful.
Chandler Rome thinks it's because Christian Walker is going on the paternity list. Hopefully that's the case and it's not Meyers going to the IL.
I think people will be surprised at how well he does. He’s an elite CF defender with speed on the basepaths. Hes gotten his k rate down to 20% in AAA and a healthy 11% walk rate. He wasn’t hitting for power in Sugar Land but he has power potential. Theres a reason they’ve kept him on the 40 man this long despite weak slash lines in the upper minors.
Is he actually going to play? Or get the Whitcomb treatment. I follow this **** pretty closely and it’s hard to know whose on the 26 st any time. Alexander got called up? Who was sent down? Alexander got sent down, who was called back up?
We are facing the Guardians who have been even worse... And we win regardless of who wins in their series. I still think the Yankees are a bigger threat to the 2 seed than the Jays.
If he’s getting called up because Meyers is hurt, I think Corona will play a lot. If it’s just that they need another body for 3 days while Walker tends to his baby mama drama, then he might not play much, although I would imagine he’d be the first choice as a late game defensive sub in LF. I can confidently say that an OF of Smith, Meyers, and Corona would be the best defensive OF in the league.
Can't really complain about this when the Astros get the luxury of playing the Rockies for 6 games...
The latest entry on the Astros MiLB transactions page lists Luis Garcia as starting a rehab assignment in the FCL today.
Luis Garcia allowed a run on a solo homer, which was the only hit he allowed in his outing, and struck out four in two innings down in the FCL.
An actual pitching appearance, that is good to see. Now lets see how his arm responds because he got that far last season.
Walker going on the paternity list? The all-star break starts on Monday. How many days is he planning on being gone?
I hope it’s not bc Myers is injured. also, he can’t be worse on offense than Trammell . Like literally. Things are already looking up !!
