Cam definitely put a target on his back openly saying he doesn't understand his role with the coaching staff. That was bad given he was coming a great game. Very immature but I feel his pain somewhat

I understand why they didn’t give Cam a shot, but why, oh why, did we not give McVeigh a shot?

We should have had a mentor for Cam, someone he could connect to either one on one or close to it. Even as rookies Amen and Reed talked specifically about learning from FVV, trying to pick his brain. Tari was very close with Boban. Both Amen and Tari talked about learning defense from Brooks. When Jabari got benched late in games early in the 23-24 season for Jeff Green he didn't sulk about it, he used it as a learning opportunity. He has a very high opinion of Jeff. FVV was always talking to Jalen and Sengun.

As far as I know there hadn't been a lot of news about Cam having a mentor/student relationship with any of the vets or learning how to play from them. It probably contributed to him not improving anything in his second season.

Maybe, just maybe, Cam wouldn’t listen to them anymore than Ime. I can’t imagine that any vet teammate would snub a young guy that asked advice.

Cam Whitmore needs to play a Kyle Kuzma Role on the Wizards.

Great pickup by the Wizards. Glad we sent him to the East. Asset management can't be perfect all the time. Our timeline got sped up big time with KD arrival. If we didn't get KD, he's likely still on the Rockets. I think his bad attitude, etc. was bit overblown, I think it's more that there aren't enough minutes and our timeline got expedited.

For someone that’s always emphasizing intelligence, he should really go look in the mirror. Countless times during the season where he fell asleep at the wheel. He doesn’t have time to have players learn on the job and the same should be expected of his coaching.

No **** Ime is outcoached a lot, Kerr used him like a personal blow up doll in the playoffs.

Both Jalen Green and Sengun were offensive first players by every definition

And they just signed one of the best offensive players of all time. I have my doubts about Ime’s offensive acumen, but he does not hate offensive players, he hates offensive players that don’t play defense. By the way, I don’t think Ime wanted to get rid of Jalen, but it was the price he had to pay to keep FVV and Jabari. He sure didn’t seem to hate Dillon.

To be fair, Cam was an offense-ONLY player.

I'm not thrilled Cam was traded, but you knew the writing was on the wall when his number (now belonging to KD) wasn't even called when Jalen Green took six ***** in the playoffs.

This is not true. Stone has been involved in several personnel decisions including the Harden trade. Morey consulted with both Eli and Stone on several deals.

This 2020 Feigan article talks about this:

“Morey quickly made Stone part of the Rockets’ decision-making, even in trade calls — unusual for a member of a team’s legal department — along with his role with negotiations and contracts.”

“Though Morey long has been the face of the Rockets’ front office, over the years he has kept his assistants heavily involved not just in decision-making, but in the negotiations themselves.”

“Stone, who has been known within the Rockets’ hierarchy for being able to move easily from the most traditional basketball minds to the most cutting edge members of the analytics department, often has been on the forefront of moves for role players such as Ben McLemore or, most recently, David Nwaba.”

“But he also has been involved in some the biggest moves in the NBA.”

He and Morey spent most of 72 hours locked in a conference room while completing the trade for James Harden. Witus handled much of the negotiations with the Timberwolves on the Robert Covington portion of this season’s three-team trade before the deadline.”

“Stone and Witus put together much of the Rockets’ trade for Chris Paul and the series of trades that day that accompanied it.”

Rockets will regret not developing[ Whitmore. He will come back to "haunt" them. The kid has crazy skills; he needs the right mentor.
