Seems like the Kings are willing to part ways with Carter. He’s been mentioned in some other Sac trade discussions. He had a disappointing rookie yr. But I bet he’s making similar money to Cam. Would love to swap Cam for Carter.
Cutting JeeNate is required to get under the apron. There is little chance the Rockets can cut further to get below the luxury tax line. Because we used the MLE (or SnT) we cannot break the 1st apron (195-6M) after the luxury tax. The Rockets project to be pretty close to that line (within 0-1M). Lux tax is at 187M - we would need therefore to drop Reed and bring back a vet minimum player to avoid the luxury tax altogether. Most likely the team we would be asking for help would want us to give them draft compensation to do so. Since we have used all our 2nds, that would be a 1st rounder. Ouch. It isn't a strong possibility that we duck tax this year. Very slim chance.
Von Wafer dropped a water bottle from his leg to the floor and Rick Adelman thought Vin Wafer threw it at Rick and got benched in the Playoffs. Cam Whitmore reminds me of Von Wafer in those moments.
Man, why? What has Cam ever done that makes people think that? This is not a very honest look at what he is or has done, tbh. Has he pouted or hung his head at times, you bet, has he whined about it to the media - nope - he answered a question about his play one day that was completely misinterpreted..has he expressed that he would like to play more....YEP.....oh bother.....sue me, that is egregious.much rather have a player happy to sit on the bench and draw a paycheck. Cam is a competitor, he wants to play, he wants to compete - you can see it when he is on the floor, he BUSTS his ass to push that ball and score, he is excited for teammates when they do well......he just wants a fair shot, like Jalen got.....FFS what is wrong with that. I want a GUY THAT ****ING CARES !!!!! DD
So, we would have to trade maybe one of the core during or just after the season, maybe Tari for instance, right? I will bet they try to get under it either at the trade deadline or after we are finished with our season. DD
Kevin Durant destroying Cam Whitmore in Practice maybe gets through Cam head that he needs to play hard defense at all times.
This should be the starting backcourt for the next decade. Two TOUGH COMPETITORS not taking crap from anyone and beating the other team down. DD
Terrible for the Rockets. Good for Cam - going home and will blow up into an all star - and we will get to sit here and whine about why Jalen got so much burn when a much better player was left rotting on the bench. DD
Does anybody know when the luxury taxes are computed. Will it be right before the next season starts around July 2026?
Unbelievable. They just gave the kid away. He would've easily been a top 15-20 pick this year. A lotto protected 1st should have been the price. This is a poor decision IMHO. Wow.
So do we still think Shams/Kelly were blindly guessing, speculating, and/or making things up? Just checking.
Yeah, I think some of it was (not shams but many others), and some was what they heard, there was still ZERO actual reporting - and if you look at it Ben you can see that it clearly was from CAM's side of it...... Where was that mentioned? Seems that the driving force was from Cam - why did no one talk to him or his management and get the story? As I said, Lazy reporting,......but not all of it, I will grant you that. DD
They definitely talked to his management, that’s part of how they knew these discussions were happening! His agent just didn't want to say anything on the record because no one under contract is allowed to "demand" trades. Pretty standard. Cam being the driving force was implicit, he needs an opportunity to prove his value before he's eligible for a second NBA contract, and it just didn't make sense to keep him going into Year 3 if he’s not going to be in your rotation. He won't be happy if he’s not playing, and the Rockets prioritized DFS over Cam with the final consistent rotation spot. It is what it is, felt inevitable as soon as the reports started emerging that Houston wanted to backfill the Dillon role via FA.
They will regret the DFS over Cam choice.....going forward.....DFS can't dribble.....but Ime apparently struggles with headstrong young players. DD
