Our team identity historically has centered around pitching. Crane obviously values pitching over all else since he's given some pretty big contracts to them.

Dubon is elite at what he does - a Jose Oquendo type of player that can give other players rest and competently defend and put the ball in play.

The problem is when he is getting 450-500 at bats a season.

Trading Tucker was a big deal given his relation with this golden era of the Astros. It sure seems like Dana landed a ton of value.

"Here is #Yordan Alvarez last night. Cast on.
Directly from the man himself, my dad asked, and he said, “My ligament popped during my rehab stint and I won’t be swinging for 6 weeks.”
    (@Matthew_Aucoinn)

    HIS LIGAMENT POPPED????

    What does that mean?

And there is NOTHING the medical team can do about it, the guy is just "Glass Joe" from Punch out.

Upvoted 100% for the Oquendo reference.

He absolutely shouldn't be getting 500 ABs. He's only on pace for about 300 this season, which is fine, and well under what he's averaged the last couple of seasons.

    Exactly!!

If he plays too much they'll wear him down.

They just haven’t announced it yet. We’ll find out in August. ;)

    He's done in 2025. It's over.

Finishes the season with a WAR of -0.5
Finishes the season with an OPS+ of 82.

Would .220/.300/.380 with 25 HR and 80 RBI be a terrible season for Christian Walker? I know we all expected more and a .680 ops looks pretty weak for a 1B, but 25 HR and 80 RBI combined with decent 1B defense isn’t the end of the world, and I think those are the numbers he’ll end up getting. Not ideal but I don’t think it is anywhere near the disaster that Abreu was and it’s hard to imagine anyone clamoring this offseason to replace a guy who just hit 25 bombs.

A "popped ligament" doesn't sound good at all and it doesn't look like he will be back this season.

    Go get some bats Dana!!

That’s fine. Is he hitting 7th or 8th? Every bit as valuable as Yuli when he was hitting 7th on the better teams I think.

We were also like -13 or -16 runs at 1B last year. That’s a horrifically bad number.
