For the life of me, I do not understand moving Cam Whitmore.

He isn't making a ton of money, he isn't valued around the league to bring in assets. His contract isn't up. You got rid of a guy who was similarly brimming with talent, but he played all the damn time, and didn't play quite how we'd like but you made him a 100mil guy. That's fine, I see why we moved on from Jalen. Cam has played all of 1700 minutes in the NbA and Jalen 10,000.

Does the guy kick puppies? Am I a complete idiot that is just wrong in that I think he's extremely talented? . He doesn't even get a tryout as the popcorn scorer with the new team. Wild waste if they move him for peanuts or drop him or whatever.

It’s just Emu flexing…trying to show the young man who’s boss.

A selfish chucker that shoots below average. Too lazy to play defense. Besides some highlight dunks, what is he really good at?

I’m happy with a late first (where he was drafted), or multiple 2nds

For a team that needs offense he could be a scorer off the bench if he develops, not to mention when Durant retires. We're also selling low.

Ego goes both ways and this seems like it could become a bad move over seasons if you choose not to work it out or at least work until his rookie contract is up as he's cheap.

1000% correct, what is wrong with Ime that he can't handle a young buck that wants to play?

Ime was a barely in the league role player, he had to do everything the coach asked......but there are GREAT coaches who know that sometimes you have to nurture and teach young players.

Jackson with a hot headed Kobe
    Rudy with Maxwell
    Pop with Manu
    Brown with Iverson
    Jackson with Rodman

Sometimes you have to give a little rope and you get special players.

I think they handled Cam completely wrong, and that is gonna bite us in the ass as he blows up elsewhere.

The coach doesn't have to show a nobody "who's boss"...which I believe may be part of the problem between Cam's ears. The only reasons we were able to draft him where we did are the same reasons we're here talking about now, 2 years later.

No reason to give him away, but no reason to give him PT he won't earn. It's all on him.

He's dead weight and in the doghouse, doesn't matter how talented you believe him to be. Also, he doesn't play a position of need on this team. Although you may not agree with it, this should answer your question. Stone is currently trying to flip him for something this team can actually use, as presently constructed. In another universe, or on the Wizards, this guy is a starter and is a stud, unfortunately this isn't that...

Has it been pointed out that Cam shares an agent with Anthony Edwards?

Is this about doing Cam a solid by shipping him somewhere he can play, in order to help the Rockets’ reputation around the league and specifically with his agent? There isn’t much other logic in giving him away … it feels like a ‘do right by a guy’ move that could pay off in the long term.

On offense, Whitmore seems most comfortable when he has the ball in his hands and is looking to attack. But at the NBA level and particularly on this team, he's asked to be more of an off-ball wing, which he hasn't figured out how to do yet. You can tell he tries hard to make himself useful without the ball in his hands, but it doesn't come naturally for him.

IMO Whitmore could learn a whole lot from watching films of Eric Gordon during his Rocket years with Harden. He's a shooting guard who I think learned to become an effective complementary piece by looking for his opportunities on offense, while still doing enough of everything else.

Anyway, it looks like it may take Whitmore a few years to wean himself off of the shoot-first mentality and figure it out.

A kid that’s already proven he can score in the NBA, on a cheap contract and wants to contribute. He’s pouty like most 20 year olds would be in his situation but it’s an ideal situation for HTown because he’s cost controlled for now

I really liked Dosunmu in the draft .... he would actually be a good option IF a trade is to be made - fills a hole on the roster as a combo guard.

I do think Cam is a higher potential player but would probably call it a win if you could get that deal done.

Open your eyes. While the talent might be there, the dude is a moaning, groaning, adult baby. Bad attitude. Bad defense. Ball hogger.

I'd only trade him for someone like Dalton Knecht, who has the same salary, or throw him in on something . A couple of seconds when he could erupt into a star is selling low stupid. He'd fit better in Drama Wood anyway and Dalton wants to play with his friend DFS.
