The Cam lovers are putting lipstick on a pig. They are right about not trading him for 2nd round picks. He is gone for a decent frp. Anyone saying he is not disgruntled or being an immature ass is not paying attention. If he is still here, I hope he shows a leap in maturity and we keep him, but his demeanor and effort is his to own.

Ah yes, the KPJ special. Seems appropriate considering the respective fan club presidents.

a player demands his p/t by his efforts: work and fit - both in role/and with teammates.

FWIW - I hope Cam proves to be the fit GARM is looking to replace him with. And, no, I just have nada clue as to that reality.

Nor do I believe anyone not with him and the team knows.

Q: Bari ‘famously’ works with KD. Anyone with knowledge of CW’s summer program?

It shouldn't have come to this.
He will likely put up 26+ eventually.

But, if it's draft capital...I'd be aggressive.
Seek out PHX 26 or 28. Add an asset with Cam.

Cam isn't getting more than a heavily protected first at this point. He was drafted 20th and hasn't shown the ability to play for extended minutes. Likely teams would be throwing two seconds for him. his biggest value as a trade asset right now would be as a lottery ticket attached to Jock and Tari for an upgrade in the back court, with or without picks attached depending on the return.

if the rockets can't get a Coby White or Austin Reaves in return for that package then they should consider holding onto him.

I'm very curious what the draft pick return looks like for Cam. It's such an eye of the beholder situation.

On one hand, other teams can argue that he's a distressed second draft asset, the type of which is usually traded for some number of second round picks (Wiseman, AJ Griffin, Saddiq Bey, Chris Duarte, Obi Toppin, Rui Hachimura)

OTOH, Whitmore is much younger / higher potential / lower paid than a lot of those guys, and has been better on the court than the other ones. He's more of a "current high level prospect" than a "former high level prospect". If you did a draft of all 20yo and under players in the NBA, including the most recent draft class, I'm pretty sure Cam goes towards the end of the first round.

He's also an athletic SF who can shoot and credibly defend his position, who makes $3M / $5M the next two years. There aren't many of those, even with all the flaws.

IMO Stone is holding out for some kind of first round asset - a highly protected pick or a frp swap. I would do the same, but I'm not sure he's going to get it.

The only thread more nuclear than this one is the Clint Capela thread, which had over 500 replies in the first 24 hours before finally cooling off.

I'm seeing Ayo Dosonmu's name floated around as a potential trade since they have matching salaries. What's his game like? Is he a good passer? Can he drive the ball? Defender? I don't really keep up with Bulls players.

    7 million vs 3.5 million.

After adding Capela, it gets tricky with the first apron.

right against it as is (even with waiving Jock)

i think if you're going to be playing with the first apron it needs to be for more of a difference maker.

it's really hard to make a Cam trade work straight up unless it's purely for draft assets.

Yea... the issue is Cam doesn't meet the communicated expectations to get consistent minutes after 2 seasons. And he's also not so insanely talented that he gets special treatment.

I don't disagree that Cam has some tantalizing tools and he could slot into the 6th man role but clearly he is not one to follow instructions.

Keep in mind, James Harden made the all star team last season, yet udoka would still rather have a short, fat undersized, inefficient pg in VanVleet.

Cam whitmore could be an all star and udoka would still trade him away.

    Cam and the 2nd most favorable of the 2027 1sts for Chicago’s 2026 1st

2027 is supposed to be a bad draft, 2026 is supposed to be one of the best.

I still don't even want KD and it's a strong disagree from me too.

    That's not true.

Amen is viewed by most as our top young prospect but everytime he's gotten an expanded role it's been due to injury.

Rookie year he wasn't really playing much at all until injuries. This past year he finally became a starter after Bari's injury. His work and fit didnt just all of a sudden improve.

Look, man. I’ve stuck up for you for years. I respect everyone having their own opinions. But wtf do you mean that’s not how it works?

You don’t just get to come into the league and act however you want to act, and boom you get your next contract. Do the Rockets want to win or do they care more about Cam’s next deal? That way of thinking is idiotic. You get your chance by working hard and being productive. These dudes are not entitled to a shot.

Il say it again…I want Cam to succeed. I’d like it to be with the Rockets if possible. That said, if he can’t get his ish together it won’t happen. And I don’t want to hear about he’s young or it’s someone else’s fault.

Despite not getting past the Warriors, Udoka coached this team with a fat undersized PG to the 2nd seed in the West. This was enough to convince Durant to put us on the list of teams he wanted to join. I get that many of you all want to play GM, but get a ****ing grip about Cam. I get it, he is a fun player to watch. Thunderous dunks, great speed, explosive scorer, all the things that are just fun to watch about players like him, but he lacks a team winning mentality. It was in ****ing full display last year. He was given opportunities initially and for the most part did not produce. Then he was given garbage time the rest of the season and instead of playing his ass off, he mailed it in.

He has all world athleticism and talent to be a very good player in this league, and as a Rockets fan I wish we could see that talent fulfilled here, but the reality is that it isn't happening. Trading Jalen should have created that opportunity for him, but instead his loser, selfish mentality has the team wanting to trade him instead.

That pretty much means that they are determined to move him, even at a low price.
