I know this is considered a tradable contract (questionable) but still not a fan of this signing. It really puts a hard limit on any possible roster moves during the regular season.

I started to think about This when the season ended. Even though we improve our shooting, and there are less shots to rebound offensively, we still will get a high or higher percentage of offensive rebounds off of misses. So I like this overall.

Right, sure, but hasn't KD made it pretty clear that he's open to a pay cut to allow Rox to extend their younger players?

Who needs a guard when our best offense is missing a shot and crash the board for offensive rebounds

Interesting point--I suppose none of these deals are finalized yet so anything could happen, right?

I think this is the first serious dumb move in the new phase, like really ****ing stupid unless there’s something to this we don’t know.

    1. Too much money for his abilities
    2. Others could’ve been had for less if we wanted another big
    3. We literally have DFS who’s been said to be a successful small ball 5, plus we have Jabari who can easily hold that down.
    4. This is 100% an Ime move (he owns Stone) because he refuses to adapt and I hate that this signals how we’re going to play the exact same way instead of faster with wings and forwards, it will be slow with bigs. Also DFS and Capela are both not quick athletic guys able to handle run and gun so good luck with that.
    5. We still need shooting, a wing / guard!

    1. 7M for Capela is not "too much". It is comparable to other centers his level. He even makes less than Jock Landale and last year people liked Jock. You acting like Capela signed for 20M a year.

    2. Capela serves as insurance, DFS would probably play at the wing. If Adams or Sengun gets injured having Capela would be better than Jock Landale who we previously had.

    3. Which big? I can only see Looney who is better than Capela and signed for 1M less. We prioritized DFS and only got Capela via SnT with Hawks. Looney signed outright. I prefer DFS and Capela over just Looney.

In a perfect world with perfect information Stone would have signed Looney and Gary Trent Jr and then do a SnT between Jock and Lakers for DFS. However Stone isnt omniscient and while he is working on deals others are too at the same time. You have to remember these is a FA frenzy its not like every agent is waiting for a call for every team, by the time you agree with someone others are already locked up. Rockets RN are 3 deep at every position and thats what matters.

That was Harden + CC. Can easily admit that.

I hope this won't tempt Ime to play a triple bigs lineup.

pretty much agree with all your points. I’ll add that we’ve seen Bari be successful at the 5 as well. We didn’t need to shell out another $7 mil for an 3rd string center. And 3 yrs guaranteed for a declining big? I’m never gonna like this move. Agreed it’s the only screwup of the offseason so I’ll live with it.

I agree, although I do like bringing in somebody that can serve is more a little bit of a rim protector.

all of that being said I think that there could be some sort of reason for this that we just don’t see right now.

Would I rather Gary T jr? Sure but I really want Reed to get major minutes and Cam if we keep him.

Plus Holiday is fine. I think they want to load manage Adams and we can definitely do the double Big with better shooting around it now.
