Hasn't DD basically turned on every coach claiming they screwed over/ruined some fetish prospect of his?
I do want to retain Cam since DFS is coming off ankle surgery. Cam should be retained if he's playing well by the Feb trade deadline. Cam plus the Rockets unprotected 2027 1st round pick for the unprotected 1st round 2026 pick from the Hornets seems like a pipe dream.
Cam has no value at the moment to other teams. He got passed by like half of the league precisely because of attitude issues. If anything the past two years those teams have been proven right. The issue is also on court, the fact he still doesn't really play smart basketball on either end of the court despite being in such a structurally sound defensive system raises even more red flags. Other GMs are saying if Ime can't get him to buy in, who can.
I don't see him getting many minutes at the 3 or 4 spots but considering there's no true 2 guard on the roster outside of Jeenathan Williams, I think he can carve out some minutes there - especially if there's an injury. There's really no one else on the roster that has his ability to get to and finish at the rim either. And being realistic, they aren't going to find a player who does that better than him for what they can afford to pay which is Cam's Salary of $3,539,760 plus the remainder under the tax line which is $631,935. Who are you going to get for $4,171,695.
For all his faults in the playoffs, Jalen Green has several Western Conference player of the week/month awards, a bunch of seasons scoring over 20 a game - when exactly is/was Cam Whitmore ever going to do any of that?
That is why Cam was not included in the Durant trade but Jalen was. Kidding but those awards come and go.... Jalen 36 minutes per game, Cam probably 4-10 minutes a game....lelz....you tell me he is winning awards with those minutes?
Was this meant to be sarcastic? Cam Whitmore's FG% on drives is 34% one of the worst on the 15-man roster last season. He's good at dunking when there's a clear path to the basket (transition mostly), but he's always been terrible at beating his man off the dribble as well as at evading interior defenders. The thing he's really good at is pull up 3pt shooting but unfortunately his catch and shoot is terrible.
How do you know this is the low point? No way Cam is going to get 25 mins a game the 1st half of the season. If he plays his ass off in practice and does what he is asked in limited minutes then maybe he gets some more minutes in the 2nd half. Right now teams are seeing a cheap salary on a player with great potential. If he plays and sh*ts the bed he will be gone for nothing.
Nope. You’re confusing your non NBA expectations for actual NBA expectations. This is all on Cam. He ain’t that special that he could constantly fail to meet expectations
Honestly it's pretty clear what I was replying to. @DaDakota claims that Cam Whitmore should have been out on the floor, not because of his own merits (which are not that many) but because Jalen Green was so consistently bad - a "turd" to be exact. That's clearly not true and he was, for certain stretches of the last 2 years, the best guy on the team. But sure, Cam Whitmore too valuable something something something. Wake me up when he matches the relatively modest achievements of Green
