Did they at least restore the pre 2017 SALT deductions?

    Negative.....its a utter disaster of a bill.

This is probably the worst piece of legislation since the Iraq war authorization

Figures. I expect my tax bill goes up just like it did in 17. But what the **** am I paying for besides masked gestapo cosplayers putting brown people into cages or exiling American born citizens or paying for bombs to kill Palestinian kids.

It certainly is not paying for the welfare of my fellow Americans. Or research. Or infrastructure.

If I had to guess what the "theory of politics" is about this bill, the GOP is betting on voters not blaming them for negative consequences. After all, they haven't paid any price for this type of disaster in the past.

George W. Bush destroyed Bill Clinton's budget surplus with wars and tax cuts, oversaw an economic meltdown in 2008, and the party wasn't cast aside for a generation like Hoover's GOP. Instead Mitch McConnell abused Senate norms to stymie Barack Obama's agenda, stole a Supreme Court seat, and Donald Trump won in 2016. The GOP has successfully convinced its voters that taxes can never, ever, be raised on the wealthiest people in the country. They start their negotiations from the standpoint that costs can only be cut and revenues can never be raised. It's a cynical argument that has worked for them since the 1980s.

They'll rely on their geographic advantage in the Senate to perpetuate this approach forever. Knowing that Democrats won't get 60 seats again, Republicans can simply filibuster any attempt to raise taxes, blame Democrats for being ineffectual, return to power, and rinse, wash, and repeat as long as there are poor people to kick off insurance and rich people who want to pay less taxes.

So you willing to die and suffer because other people suck?
It's not a magic bullet but it definitely something they should be doing
people definitely own the decisions made in ignorance when they could get the information
but nowadays . .. . We have enter the Baffle them with bullshit stage of communications
So much dis and mis information out there. . .. we should make an extra effort to help people find the truth

but . . if you think being more apathetic helps . . . i hope that works for you

Went to my monthly Catholic Church service when I visited my parents..... And I am well aware that some churches do give out money and do take care of people..... It's just it's a far cry what the gubment does.....

The Catholic Church is very wealthy and yet still tons of poor, struggling folks..... Hell you'd think with how "pro life" the Catholic Church is they'd be the ones taking over adoptions.... but nah..... just for show.....

And I'm guessing since you can't name a program that will take care of those folks and then deflected to a bunch of do nothing christians.... You admit to being wrong.

Huh… at what point did you read what I wrote and think that I believe it’s a good thing people in this country are apathetic?

My point was the DNC isn’t coming to save you if only they could get the messaging right on X,Y, and Z topics. Even if they do improve significantly in the next 12 months to help in 26, it doesn’t matter if nobody hears it because MAGA owns the media and to add to that half the country (IMO) enjoys being MAGA anyway… closeted or loud and proud.

I'm mostly just taking a shot at religion, especially US "christians".

If the Catholic Church, Baptist Church, whoever wanted to pay United or Cigna to manage a medical and prescription plan for the indigent, those companies would gladly took those religious organizations' money to do so. And most importantly.... ain't nothing stopping them from doing so.

Another reason that leaning on religious organizations to be the sole providers of healthcare to the poor (or adoptions, to your point) is the potential for discrimination. What if there's a poor HIV patient who is denied healthcare by a religious organization because the latter thinks it's reflective of a sinful nature? This was the basis of one of the most recent Obamacare lawsuits: Christians arguing that paying for preventative care somehow violated their religious freedom.

What if there's a Muslim charity that refuses medical care to someone who got trichinosis from eating undercooked pork and there are no other options for somebody?

This is why it's important for a secular government to step in.

This is the LARGEST wealth transfer in AMERICAN HISTORY at a time wealth inequality is at its worst

Maybe there isn’t one. If Americans can’t just take over the pro democracy party and make it what it needs to be then they are a big part of the problem. The people need to rise up and take the reins. Stop waiting for people like chuck Schumer to save the day.

The US led the world in the growth of millionaires in 2024, with more than 300,000 people joining the club. The stock market is near all-time highs. Corporations are absolutely killing it....

What better time than now to follow the billionaire's lead, give those with THE MOST a helping hand...

And stick it to the poor?

And, I might add, make our country less competitive on the global stage?

Some of y'all are going somewhere warm when you die. And it won't be Mar-a-Largo.

The CBO aren't libs. No tax on tips could be primed for abuse of taxes and could drastically hurt.

If a CEO structured their salary to a minimum but then structured it so the rest of their hundreds of thousands were labeled tips and paid no taxes on that, it's a problem and hurts everyone else.

Its really sad cuz this **** is personal to me. I use to sell medical equipment to medicaid patients and I still talk to alot of my old patients in Indiana. These are hard working Americans who rely on Medicaid for life saving equipment who will have their insurance taken away leading to businesses taking away their medical equipment.

Real people are going to die and hospitals are going to shut their doors. Estimates show almost 1/3 of rural medical businesses will shut down.

    This **** isnt a joke

No deflection, I believe in self reliance. I'm fine with programs feed people like WIC. People need to learn to house themselves. Through spraying section 8 housing I see a lifestyle that continues on from generation to generation, which is sad. However I don't believe a dime should go to any illegal for any of this stuff.

With no tax on tips it would and most waiters have roommates and are going to college etc... It's not meant to be a long term job. However I know many servers that do quite well as professional servers.

Hopefully you're wrong because no tax on tips, overtime would make a big difference in the blue collar workers lives.
