Depending on matchups, I believe DFS can play SG at times, but not very often.

Amen is going to be on ball alot. Hes going to be a slightly smaller what ben simmons could never be. Amen is willing to shoot the jumper.

That’s a really important argument. You can also count Unc and Tate, and you got yourself 7 guys that can indeed play multiple positions. I hope we won’t always stick to the 2-bigmen lineup.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Amen - Durant - Sengun dynamic.

With Durant on the perimeter and defenders required to double him and Sengun, Amen is gonna be practically unguarded in the dunker spot.

I can see that backdoor play being executed perfectly 3-5 times per game.

3-yrs guaranteed for Capela is not great. I don’t like $20 mil tied up in backup centers. I wish we had added more shooting, especially in the backcourt. We are a much better team but the roster is configured oddly. I’m nervous we don’t have enough ball handling behind Fred.

However, getting DFS without having to give up anything is pretty great and he’s an excellent Dillon replacement. I think it’s fine to go into the regular season with this roster and just see how things play out. We can always make adjustments at the deadline. I also like that we so far have not done any panic selling of Cam. We aren’t getting decent offers so we should just hold until we do. We can always move him at the deadline. In the meantime there should be some minutes for him at the backup 2 if he can earn them.

Great offseason! Excited to be a legit contender again. Let’s get Tari extended!

Um, KD, Jabari and Alpi can play 4 and 5 out. We can play double big at any time. You are going to lose any argument saying this team isn’t versatile, switchable and deep. You don’t need to worry about some random SG.

This team is betting that either Amen or Reed, or both are going to turn into primary ball handlers. I like that bet.

Amen has had a loose handle, especially if you expect him to run point. I expect Amen will have a better handle next year, along with a better mid range and 3 point shot. For both the handle and the shot, I do not know if either will good enough to see starter minutes at the 1.

Amen at the 2/3 could be the secondary ball handler, where he can work on his game while not costing the Rockets the game. I think that this should be the team's and the fan's expectation next year.

We would all just like you to admit your depth chart leaving amen 3rd string was ridiculous/ a huge oversite/ or smooth brain in hindsight.

I don't care that much about the depth chart - I care about the total minutes played for the rotation players. For example, I want Tari Eason to get the 4th-5th most minutes. I think he is our 4th best player and (if healthy) I hope he plays as much or than DFS, Jabari, Fred, or even Durant. I want Amen to get the most minutes (around 35/game or 2750+ for the season), then Sengun, then KD and Tari, then Fred, Jabari, then Sheppard and DFS, then whomever ends up being the bench microwave scorer, Then Aquaman & Capela. The rest should be <500 minutes.

I’ll take this, but it’s not happening:

    Amen - FVV - Reed - Holiday
    Dorian - Reed - Nate
    Durant - Dorian - Tate
    Jabari - Tari - Green
    Sengun - Adams - Capela

I think that Capela or Adams tradable whenever we need to. it also makes it seamless to trade Alpi if needed. And he can also legitimately play power forward.

I probably rather would’ve spent the money on a Guard, but that would also block read and Cam and I am hoping they both get a shot.

    Sengun/Adams/Capela
    Smith/Eason
    Durant/DFS
    Amen/Cam
    FVV/Reed

keep Holiday around in case Cam or read struggle.

He will be primarily used as a driving guard. He can nail the mid-range jumper, passes great, and finishes at the hoop. He also has incredible bbiq and will rotate to the dunker spot when appropriate, but he won’t live there like last year.

I just saw where Drew Eubanks was signing with Sac. That will be 3 centers using roughly a third of their salary. Off the top of my head, it’s probably close to the same for teams like Dallas and NYK. They may not be spending $20M on backups, but as a percentage of cap used by the center position, I’d say we’re in line with a lot of teams, and probably below quite a few.

OKC has about 32% of the cap devoted to its centers.

The main weakness will be fvv not being able to drive to the rim as a threat. Shooting guard maybe, but that worries me less.

It's weird to me that would even be a concern given that it's outside his role as a PG and there's others on the court who do that.

It's similar to those who are worried about Sengun's 3 point shooting.

It is a weakness, but I worry more about having a lot of 4s and 3/4s such that the Rockets may have trouble with faster teams. Rockets need to be a great defense with their personnel.

Wait, so Amen is 4th string SF and 3rd string PG?

    This is my guess:

    FVV / Reed / Amen / Holiday
    Amen / Reed / Cam / Holiday
    Durant / DFS / Tari / Amen / Tate
    Jabari / Tari / Amen / Sengun / Jeff
    Sengun / Adams / Capela / Jeff
