When is FVV gonna learn that stuff? Hopefully Cam's agent is working to find him a place he can break out - because clearly Houston is going all in for the next 2 years with Durant and have chosen old vets to fill the roster. We are going to regret that in 2 -3 years when Cam is scoring 23+ points a game and is being looked at as an all star. This is short sighted - but it is what it is.....hopefully it works out for both the Rox they can get a FRP for him and for Cam. My guess would be Denver. DD
It does not look good that aside from the ready rookies, Alpe, Tari, Amen, the Rockets would give up on Reed as well so he stays.
Did Cam request a trade? I wish we had one more year to see if he would improve, but it might be over. The reasons aren’t being broadcast, and that might be to avoid tanking his trade value.
I agree with you on this. FVV is not a decent PG, because he has failed at the main function of a pg, which is to create opportunities for the offense. Cam still has a lot of development to be a solid NBA player. I think he gets there on somebody else’s team. It’s a very unpopular opinion on this board, but I think that Ime has a hell of a lot to prove before he should be considered a championship level coach and should not have been extended until he proves he can put an effective offense on the floor. His stubborness all year and especially in the playoffs caused that early exit. His player develop skills so far reside on only one side of the court. Fortunately for the Rockets the addition of Durant and DFS almost insures better offensive production, because neither player or Amen need a lot of plays set up for them. All he really has to do is play FVV off the ball or off the bench to dramatically improve the offense.
Your desire to pretend Amen Thompson is a PG has you saying some weird things. Reed Sheppard is almost the exact definition of a traditional pure PG. Years of guys who were SG's that were too small to play SG so they got penciled in at PG has people thinking guys like Derrick Rose and Russell Westbrook are what a PG should be.
Yeah he was drafted by a guy who doesn't coach players up......and would rather coach already ready players. Ime did the same thing in Boston, he refused to play Pritchard because he wasn't great on D, then he screws the executives wife, gets fired, and the new guy comes in, same system, but now he plays Pritchard and other offensive players, and wins a ring. Ime is a great guy, players respect him, but he was a barely in the league role player - and values the wrong things IMHO, defense is great, but balance wins rings. Right now, for me, Ime is JVG or Tom Thibedeaux level - good, not great, he ain't no Rudy, or Phil Jackson. DD
Cam isn't a guard and can't stay in front of guards. Unless FVV/Amen are there we would have no one to guard a guard. Cam is also susceptible to getting blown-by by faster wings. His skillset is rare but we just don't need it here. We need a smaller defensive oriented 3 and D player that we can stick on the likes of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Jamal Murray, etc. Maybe like a Jose Alvarado?
Every one of our guards outside of Amen and Tari get blown by.....Brooks was slow footed, better against bigs, FVV can't stay in front of a dead grandmother, Jalen....puhlease.... DD
All speculation since we don’t have any details but seems like him and Udoka just don’t mesh. Which is a shame. Udoka mentioned getting him and Reed more time next season in the interview after the playoffs so maybe something happened conversationally after that. I remember the reporter asking about some misunderstanding about expectations with Cam that caught Udoka by surprise.
