Capela was 7th in off reb rate. Adams was 1st. I suggest an offense of putting both of them in and just letting KD get multiple 3 pt attempts each time down the court.
Neither Sengun nor Adams are iron man and do need rest. So there's plenty of minutes for Capela. The only criticism one can lay on this signing is that they should've just signed some minimum player and used the money on a guard. And while I would agree with that for the most part, I also think if the Rockets are banking on Reed Sheppard for rotation minutes, this is not an issue. Reed/Amen/FVV rotation in the backcourt is fine with Cam and Holiday as backups. Reed just better come through.
I sincerely hope we learned from the Pacers and OKC that going with a deep rotation is the best option.
I wonder if this might not be a make-or-break first half of the season for Reed. Hard to see them continuing to develop a subpar bench player on a team that's really going for it--he may be gone in a trade if he can't produce.
Given how close they are to the apron right now, there doesn't seem to be any plan B here. If Reed is unplayable the Rockets have to trade him for someone serviceable IMO. Very odd decision from the Rockets front office given how much Ime seemed to hate playing Reed last year. But perhaps they know something we don't.
In that scenario, Capela is quite tradable and Holiday can fill in in a pinch as we line up that deal
Reported: S&T for Capela with us sending a 2nd round pick swap and cash their way. Looks like we’ll waive Jock and Williams and keep Cam?!
Give me Brook Lopez and Kevin Looney over Capela. Honestly Clint isn’t all that great defensively anymore. He can still rebound really well and get you hustle points though. Whatever — not sure why we didn’t get Kennard at 1/11 but went out and dumped money on Capela… maybe Clint agreed to turn over the photos of Stone and Morey getting it on.
Holiday is someone who you should ideally never play in the playoffs. And while the Rockets can technically trade Capela for a PG, them being hard capped at the first apron means finding a fit at the deadline is just really hard. So unless Ime truly believes in Reed, this is a risk they shouldn't be taking after the KD trade and going all-in.
