You could work the rest of your life and wouldn’t even be able to pay him half U should have never came after GaryBird U bum
What if any player gets hurt? Sengun could easily miss 10-20 games. Fred missed like 20 games last year, Amen missed like 15 games. Players miss games, and KD is ticketed to likely miss 20-25 games without a major injury. Other players will have to step up, that can be Amen or Reed - or maybe Sengun or Jabari. It could be worse, we could be relying on Jalen Green to create offense for us.
He’ll play a lot. He can substitute for FVV if Amen or Reed is on the floor. He can sub Amen, he can sub KD, he can sub for Jabari. I think he gets 25 mins a game maybe more. There’s probably a way around it enough to keep Cam, but BimaThug said it would be tough.
One of the nice things on this roster is there's a decent amount of versatility and length. Bari and Durant can flex between 3/4/5 in spurts; Tari can cover really 2/3/4 (so would DFS), and we've already seen Amen do everything from point guard to power forward. If you tell me we can swap out Landale, Green, and Brooks for Durant and DFS, with another year of growth for one of the league's youngest teams by minutes played, I can get excited. Durant does so many things for this team -- including relieving what you need from Amen on offense in crunch time so he can stay focused on being a warlock on defense.
Finney Smith and Jordan Clarkson would make this team great all around. You find a defensive replacement for Brooks, and a evolved version of Jalen in Clarkson. Also saw that buyout players can sign with teams in the aprons. Which the Rockets aren't there yet but would think they would be willing since they went to get Durant. I haven't seen anywhere that shows they aren't willing but wonder if they are trying to stay below to have options at the trade deadline? Anyone know if they have reported anything about that?
Reasons not to sign DFS The cost. His age. Team is getting older, not necessarily better. 6’7 PF Career rebound average, 4.5 Given more minutes, Cam could provide that from the SG/SF position. Averaged 65 games the last 3 seasons. Give those minutes to Tari Hard Pass
I would imagine there is some sort of penalty for that. Even if the league doesn’t do anything, could that be seen as a HIPAA violation? That’s a case where you can show actual monetary damages.
Players at 37 are much more likely to get injured than others. The risk of Durant, and I am ok with it, was that we could get him but still keep enough of the core together to where if he didn't work out - we still had the primary rebuild pieces intact. If that is changing and we are gonna move other core pieces, for a 37 year old with a big injury history - that is probably a MASSIVE risk that I would not like them to take. Honestly, I am trying to think of ONE time in history where a team tried to build around an older player in a trade that worked out? Older being 37 or older I guess. DD
Prior to him LA couldn’t defend a team of toddlers. He’s also a really good 3PT shooter. The open 3s late in the game Tari bricks DFS will hit. He fits in perfectly with KD and Amen.
I don’t consider Cam core and I don’t anticipate us moving any of our young core for years to come. Amen, Sengun, Jabari all look safe to me. Unfortunately, FVV seems safe as well. I’d rather have Cam than Tate, but it really looks like to me that the Rockets are trying hard to move him. I’d love DFS or NAW on this team. They both will have trade value at near the NT-MLE for the next 2-3 years if they don’t work out. I’m thinking DFS is going to be 4 years at 14.1. If the contract is less years he will cost more. He turned down a 15.9 player option for 1 year. Sign and trade is still possible with a multitude of teams.
