We do have a history of letting good talent go. Hartenstein was a great point. Melton, Ty Jerome (he never played for us and was hurt), Donte Greene (joking), Huff, etc. Letting Cam go for nothing or a low level player would be a big mistake.
If DFS is coming here then no more reason to keep Cam. Ime isn't going to play him over a solid vet like DFS nor should he when the goal next season will be championship. I'd just be shopping him for whatever team is dumb enough to give us a first round with the least amount of protection.
Honestly, it would be cowardly, they don't want to deal with his frustration, so they move him on? WTF is that, let him compete, and sell HIGH, this is literally the definition of selling low. DD
Denver is a Top 6 Contender as it stands, interesting, probably bc of the Carmelo relationship and similarity.
Yeah it'll look bad on Ime and the FO but its clear they don't see much in him. They are using their MLE on a wing that means they don't even consider Cam really an option. They could have easily used it on another big or guard but it looks like the team is more worried about replacing Brooks and the distribution of his minutes than they are with Cam. Honestly, we do have to ask if there is enough usage for Cam between Amen, Durant, and Sengun and FVV I don't know if the team needs another guy out there trying to create his own shot. I actually think the team had too much of that last season and that bogged down the offense.
So whom from the Washington Wizards, the Bulls, and the Sac Kings for the world can we look forward to receiving? Cause that's where he's going... Those are the only structurally deranged bottom feeding teams that will enable Cam to unleash his "unlimited scoring potential " that CFs seems to have for him..
It could work out in our favor if we trade Landale/Cam/FRP for Colby White. Colby White could sign a contract extension for next season to be used in a trade package to possibly land Giannis next season or maybe another star becomes available...Colby White is probably a more enticing asset than Cam. Use our MLE to sign Finney-Smith and here's our roster: Sengun/Adams/N'Faly Dante Jabari/Tari/Jeff Green KD/Finney Smith/J.Tate Amen/Colby White FVV/Reed/Aaron Holiday This would be an amazing roster to run with this upcoming season!
I'm not in the practice rooms, but the Rockets wanted to trade him to the Suns in the Durant deal and the Suns preferred a 2nd round pick. The rest of the league doesn't value him and neither do the Rockets apparently.
Maybe they get 3-4 2nd round picks in return. Cam might get a bunch of playing time on Wizards, I'm not sure about the Kings and I don't think Billy the Kid would put up with much nonsense from him in Chicago. It's possible since any team trading for Cam will be giving up next to nothing, he may not get a super long leash anywhere.
I don't think we're getting Coby White for Cam and I think the Rockets don't want another shot taker on their team actually. I think the pro-cam people want Cam to replace Jalen but are forgetting, Durant is replacing Jalen. I don't think they want another player coming in trying to score 20 a night, that we have enough of those, really you just want two guys trying to carry the scoring load. That will be Durant and Sengun. To be clear, I was pro-cam but clearly there are issues here where teams don't think he's worth much of anything despite his age and when that happens its usually a behavior thing. Maybe Amen can get closer to that though, but I think having a balanced roster is about understanding when you have too many shot creators on one team trying to score 20 a night. Besides, I don't think the Bulls will give up Coby for Cam. Not even for a FRP and I don't think the Rockets/Stone like trading our FRPs in many scenarios. Plus Coby eats up Reed's minutes and I'd rather see what we have in Reed. Coby's a good player though so I think Cam and a FRP is not enough for a team that wants to make the playoffs next season in the Bulls.
Point understood. IMHO Acquiring Coby would be more focused on ball handling (giggity) and assists. IIRC Rox were dead last or close to last in assisted baskets. We need more facilitators (& makers). KD helps with that b/c of gravity and making shots. I thought we could use another combo guard to help with assisted baskets and outside shooting (Coby). I should also point out I am fine with keeping Cam as long as (1) increases sharing the rock & (2) focuses on defense.
I think the team really does have belief in Reed. I too have always been very high on his skillset because he's a slick dribbler and his shot should be there. I think just the inexperience and having to build his confidence, which all rookies deal with. So that would be my main concern of getting Coby is that he'd basically destroy Reed's rotation role because Ime of course would play Coby and FVV all of the PG minutes.
Please keep and give him a chance Stone. We still don’t know what we have in him. Give him an opportunity to earn minutes. Coach him up. We shouldn’t be giving up young talent at the moment. Just add another vet with the MLE.
The Suns were using those second round picks to move up in the draft. It’s harder to do with a player that has an actual contract that counts against the cap.
Obvious to people who follow this stuff...well said. Plus they got Green and Brooks, that is 2 wings, why get a 3rd and they still have Beal and Booker.... DD
