You simply cannot match wits with me -- not a fair fight intellectually. I can't imagine how frustrating that must be for you! That's why we see ugly posts like the above.

You could study the thoughts & teachings of the great right wing nut job, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Martin Luther King Jr. was a vocal opponent of communism, viewing it as fundamentally incompatible with Christianity and its emphasis on individual dignity and freedom. While he acknowledged communism's concern for social justice, he criticized its atheistic and materialistic worldview, its suppression of individual liberties, and its use of violence to achieve its goals."

    Here's a more detailed look at King's anti-communism:
    • King believed that communism, with its atheistic and materialistic foundation, was inherently opposed to the core tenets of Christianity. He argued that communism's denial of God and the spiritual realm left it without a moral compass and justified the use of any means to achieve its ends.
    • Critique of Communist Methods:
King condemned the violence and oppression often associated with communist regimes. He believed that communism's focus on the collective over the individual led to the suppression of personal freedom and human rights.
    • Focus on Individual Dignity:
King's commitment to nonviolence and his fight for civil rights were rooted in his belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every individual. He saw communism's collectivist approach as dehumanizing, reducing individuals to mere cogs in a machine.
    • Recognizing Communism's Appeal:
While critical of communism, King acknowledged its appeal to those suffering from poverty and injustice. He recognized that communism's rise was a response to the failures of capitalism to address social and economic inequality.
    • Beyond Communism:
King ultimately sought a "higher synthesis" that combined the best aspects of both capitalism and communism. He envisioned a society that valued both individual freedom and social justice, where the needs of all were met without sacrificing the dignity of any.
Despite his strong anti-communist stance, King was also a vocal critic of American capitalism and militarism. He believed that these systems, like communism, could be detrimental to human well-being and social progress. His critique of these systems, alongside his critique of communism, demonstrates his commitment to a more just and equitable world for all.

Apology accepted but I’ve read what you have to say. You aren’t as enlightened as you think. Narcissism is a leftist trait though. You will insult more people today.

    Gonna only get worse...

Supreme Court will hear challenge to limits on political party spending

The Supreme Court will hear a significant campaign finance case next term that will examine whether it violates the Constitution to restrict the amount of money that political parties can spend in coordination with individual candidates on advertising and other communications.

The case has the potential to significantly reshape how campaigns are funded. The restrictions being challenged were established in 1974 during the Nixon era to try to prevent donors from contributing to parties as a way to skirt limits on direct giving to candidates.

Socialism isnt communism and calling Mamdani a communist is disingenuous to begin with. And your last bullet point is literally just democratic socialism like the Nordic countries.

Mamdani is on video (shared above) calling for the "seizing of the means of production". That is a central tenet of communism. Not sure how much more clear this can get. That's in-your-face evidence right there.

All politicians are narcissists. I wasn’t talking about politicians. “But but but Trump…..”

    Means nothing at this point.

True. Although, they are related. Socialism is often seen as a transitional stage towards communism within Marxist theory.
And, in Marxist theory, communism involves the "seizure of the means of production" (which is what Mamadani called for) as a crucial step in transitioning from capitalism to a communist society. This "seizure" is not necessarily a literal one of physical force, but rather a process of collective ownership and control of the tools and resources used for production.

I am glad you read Dr. MLK's thoughts on Anti-Communism, instead of dismissing him as a right wing nut job. Yes, you are very right that Dr. King had critiques on capitalism and views on democratic socialism that can be enlightening as well.

And this is why you are an intellectually dishonest person, there is no nuance to your thinking its simply he said this, therefore this. You ignore everything else he's said and done and extrapolate a video from 2021 as evidence that he's a communist, not respectable and not worth talking to. If you genuinely cared about the truth, you’d look at his actual legislation, his advocacy, and how he’s explained his views since then. But you don’t want understanding. You want a gotcha. That’s not honest conversation, it’s bad-faith noise.

Sure, but there are plenty of countries out there that adopt socialist policies that dont crossover into communism that are doing just fine. Nordic countries for one and other countries in Europe as examples.

I could understand how this phrase would stoke fears. But again, its just a phrase he said at a youth socialist event from 2021. If you really wanted to get an honest idea of his political views now, youd look at his policies now. He's firmly a democratic socialist. Its important that we dont delve into this line of thinking otherwise we get into the slippery slope fallacy.

Yea, thanks for the info, it was very informative.

The nordic countries are not socialist. Stupid Americans have bought into this idea that anything left of US capitalism is socialist.

Its semantics. Call it what you want, democratic socialism, mixed economics, Nordic model, its largely the same policies that are being advocated for.

Whats the point of what you said here?

He literally said he wanted to seize the means of production. No nuance is necessary -- he said it in plain terms and was speaking from the heart to a sympathetic interviewer.

Rationalizing it away later because he realized it was politically inconvenient is what is not honest. Shame on you for not recognizing what's genuine and what is inauthentic.

So by your logic, everything someone says off-script or ‘from the heart’, no matter how long ago, no matter the context—is gospel truth about who they are forever? Great. Let’s apply that to Trump:

    • He said he wanted to ‘terminate the Constitution.’

    • He praised dictators like Putin and Kim Jong Un.

    • He told people to inject bleach.

    • He called neo-Nazis ‘very fine people.’

    • OH AND LETS NOT FORGET: GRAB THEM BY THE p***y
All on tape. All to friendly audiences. All from ‘the heart.’

So, should I assume you fully endorse all of that too? Or do you suddenly believe in nuance again?

You don’t actually care about consistency. You just like weaponizing outrage when it’s convenient.

That is great - but MLK wasn't a big fan of capitalism either.

“I imagine you already know that I am much more socialistic in my economic theory than capitalistic… [Capitalism] started out with a noble and high motive… but like most human systems it fell victim to the very thing it was revolting against. So today, capitalism has out-lived its usefulness.”

“And one day we must ask the question, ‘Why are there forty million poor people in America?’ And when you begin to ask that question, you are raising questions about the economic system, about a broader distribution of wealth. When you ask that question, you begin to question the capitalistic economy. And I’m simply saying that more and more, we’ve got to begin to ask questions about the whole society…”

“Call it democracy, or call it democratic socialism, but there must be a better distribution of wealth within this country for all God’s children.”

“The evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and evils of racism.”

“[W]e are saying that something is wrong … with capitalism…. There must be better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism.”

FWIW Zohran isn't really a communist - but whatever.
