“Have emerged as a viable free agent landing spot” doesn’t say a thing about whether they’re considering him. It’s just some reporter suggesting it could happen, unless I’m reading it wrong. I mean, we’re a viable free agent landing spot for a lot of guys.
DFS would be bad for this team as being a defensive minded veteran he is the type of guy to get overplayed by Ime when Tari, Jabari and Amen are better.
Yep, and Cam hasn't been disruptive at all, Max went into the stands and punched a guy, and then walked out after b****ing about Clyde, he deserved to be benched..... Cam is frustrated that he had to watch Jalen Green fail again and again while he sat.....Yeah, I would be a little frustrated too. 4 years for a 33 year old......please god no. DD
I feel like we have KD, Jabari, Tari, Amen and Cam who can play the 3 or 4. And then some insurance with Tate and Green. Minutes here will be hard to come by. At G we have FVV, Amen, Reed, Cam and Holiday. Outside of FVV and Amen no one has cemented his spot in the rotation and I view Holiday similar as Tate more as insurrance.I think we need more help here than at forward. That being said, I am not too sure how much positions matter anymore anyways. Outside of the ultra quick guards, a lot of our forwards should be able t guard most players, so I am not opposed to signing a 3 and D wing.
The Thunder used that defensive system to perfection winning a chip despite shooting like 28%, Udoker at 75% yet each percent seems hard as hell.
We talk about needing shooting. Well, DFS made 41% from 3 last season, slightly better than D. Brooks on roughly the same attempts per game. Brooks was out best 3pt shooter last season. DFS is old, but he's cheap, he can shoot, and he's played in 40 playoff games. I see no downside here. I mean, I like Cam, too, but we've already got a couple promising young guards that are apparently ahead of him in the rotation, anyway—at least, if we're to believe the reports about Sheppard. DFS smells like a catch-and-shoot guy who Udoka will actually feel comfortable playing.
Smack A second year option on the deal and bring him in. We have a very young team outside of two rotation players. A third older guy that is in the top eight is not going to hurt. Structure the contract so it allows it to be viable as far as cap filler for trades later on down the road.
The first thing is what is the number. While he has value, why haven't the LAL locked him up already, or is his agent using these type of tweets (Rockets in this case) to drive the number up. DFS' current contract: 2024-25 - $14,924,167 2025-26 - $15,378,4 (player option) If another team comes, probably have to offer more than 15m per. Age 32, so this may be his last big contract, probably wants lock his retirement fund down. Second is make sure to be solid on the medical. This month they announced he went to have surgery on his left ankle to clear up a lingering issue for the last three years (dating back to the Nets). Procedure is supposed to be not too serious, but it'd be good to make sure there's no lingering issues after (like blood clots). Third: the Jock and maybe another Rockets player for DFS is its own discussion, but we still have to reserve enough room for Tari's salary bump. Tari's been playing under $4m (underpaid rookie contract), Rockets needs to do the solid.
Allegedly said fan mentioned one of Max's deceased children (stillborn). IIRC it was in Portland. Max wrote the name of his daughter on his shoes. The Portland fan said something to the effect "was [Max's daughter] one of his hoes?" Max saw red and I completely understand. Before Clyde came, Max was a starter. Should the Rox have come up with a better plan about how to incorporate the two? Absolutely. But Max was always a competitor. Ask MJ. Anyway, don't want anyone besmirching a Rox legend w/o proper context. Resume.
I mean why not just sign Taurean Prince for the minimum. https://stathead.com/tiny/k9WOe Ime still has those two end of season games in his head (DFS’s two best games came against the Rockets; 12-19 from three, 38 points)
I don't know what to think about DFS, Durant's former teammate in Brooklyn (and Ivey was on that coaching staff). Do they simply want to play together? DFS is a solid defender (6'11.75 wingspan) who spaces the floor against a zone and sets excellent screens in the PnR. He can square up and make uncontested shots. He has the body type to guard the Pascal Siakam's of the world. Since Houston has extended Jabari, the front office could envision Eason taking leftover small forward minutes behind Durant and DFS coming off the bench behind Smith. A frontline rotation of Durant, Smith, Sengun (bench: Adams, DFS, and Eason)
