His draft selection tier impacts what he qualifies for.

    Its a great deal

Considering his age and if he keeps improving the next couple years, this is a good deal for both sides.

I wonder what Tari will get now. Around 20M~ is what I'm guessing.

Someone show the clip of him being stopped by Buddy Hield in the playoffs.

It's a steal of a deal for a guy that should be a decade long starter.
Also, bigs take longer....Jabari's got upside.

Yeah, it will be Amen/FVV/Jabari/KD/Sengun (or flip the roles for Jabari/KD, doesn't really matter). We're not going to start Tari with his bum leg on a team that needs shooting next to Amen and Alpi.

Side note, that's a ridiculously tall/long starting lineup aside from Fred

I think Sengun having experience as a pro and coming into the nba a year earlier and more polished, along with Jalen Green coming a year earlier and fed shots to see if he could be the team's leading scorer and increase his efficiency over time, suppressed at least to some extent Jabari's numbers. I think with more shots in the coming years the nba and rockets fans are going to be surprised at what Jabari is capable of.

How is this a heavy gamble?? In 2-3 years time, a player of Jabari's caliber being locked up for multiple years UNDER $25M will be a bargain. In this economic landscape, deals like this are always tradeable. And to your last point, if you were to wait to sign him to an extension AFTER he hits his potential, you'd easily be paying north of $150M for him. I don't understand the trepidation on this deal (or really, any of the trepidation you've been showing this off-season) considering the massive amounts of flexibility and youth we still possess on the roster.

No, it's not. If Jabari never grows into better than an average bench role player, 15% of the cap tied up for 5 years is not easily trade-able It becomes an albatross contract like Patrick Williams, MPJ and Ryan Anderson that has the potential to seriously hurt a franchise.

Jabari's caliber is currently an okay bench big, this is not a bargain without significant improvement. Paying for improvement that hasn't happened is the gamble.

This is pretty much what Naz Reid got paid. I was hoping they could've gotten it down to 20M per.

Keep in mind the cap is projected to keep going up. In a couple of years this is going to be bench roleplayer money. I think Jabari is borderline starting-caliber right now too--he only needs to improve a little bit to be better than, say, Dillon was. Mostly just shooting consistency.

My dude, you seriously don't have this one right. People are still trading for Jusef Nurkic. Think about that.

Disagree considering this it will be less than 15% most years. By the end of the deal it's going to be about 10% of the cap.

It really is a great deal. Amazing the type of money NBA players make now.

Posted in another thread, but this is a great signing. At that number, it shouldn't be hard staying under the first apron going forward even if we extend Eason.
