How are they cutting 800 billion from medicaid spending but managing to increase debt by 4 trillion?

The GOP Senate version increased the debt ceiling by $5 trillion, a full $1T more than the GOP House. Clearly, they didn't cut social safety net enough.

Slowly but surely, they are making America great AGAIN, just like it was in the early 1900s. And when you factor in the cuts to basic air, water, and health regulations, and how billionaires are literally running the government, even the robber barons of the early 1900s would be envious of today's environment for the rich and powerful.

You might, just might a little bit, go back and look at Republican Administrations from 1980 to now.

 

You're so blindly partisan, you speak nonsense. In this very Senate proposal, there's $350 billion in spending.

The core function of a democratic government is to spend for the public good. Some countries do this well (look at those with strong social safety nets and a generally satisfied public) while others do it poorly, riddled with crony capitalism and a population that's far less happy.

 

In this bill, ICE gets roughly as much detention money as all 50 states spend on prisons combined and more than the Bureau of Prisons. The ICE enforcement budget will be larger than the budget for the Marine Corps. The ICE hiring and retention money in this bill is more than all the active NASA missions cancelled by DOGE. There will be more ICE officers than FBI agents.

In short, we are about to build the largest secret police operation in history--and it is not even close. All this while ICE can't even make current quotas without taking landscapers, kitchen workers, builders, ag workers, sick kids, and grandmothers. Once stuff like this gets built, the circle of those targeted expands too. If you think it will stay limited to immigration or think it will only affect people you don't like, you're a fool.

this bill is the culmination of years of MAGAt stupidity and buffoonery, this country gets what it voted for

the hilarious part is as these rural hospitals close left and right, the mindless MAGAts will think that they’re winning
